Liu Haowei compares architecture to sowing seeds, defining the type of seeds before sowing, choosing suitable land, considering the climatic environment, and gradually establishing a relationship with the environment and society with the growth of buildings over time, in the participation of people to varying degrees.
It's a long process, five years, ten years, or even longer, so from the beginning of sowing the seeds, we have to think about the future.

Q Why did you want to be an architect?
A This is a process, I have two kinds of thinking, one is to put myself in the context of human beings, with the world, and even with the universe in the space-time to consider the problem; the other is to face each specific problem, step by step to solve, put forward the concept of design, to achieve the functionality of the building, plumbing, fresh air system and so on these complex things.
Architecture is actually a particularly boiling thing, no matter the size of the project has a commonality, the start- of the project, design, execution, are all realized by people with completely different values, to some extent, a bit like the director directing a movie, you need to face a complex situation, of course, this complexity and unknownness, but also the charm of architecture.

QWhen do you get the inspiration for your creations?
A I am curious about nature, ecology, digitalization, technology, etc., and inspiration is natural.
I once designed a hotel for "Nanzhaoguo Style Island". There the clouds are changing from morning to night, and the sunlight shines through different clouds, showing colorful colors. I took off the podium and the tower, and made the whole above into the shape of a cloud, using "cloud" as a concept for architectural design to create a spatial mood. I hope that it will not only be a cloud floating over the Erhai Sea symbolizing Dali, but also a paradise in the hearts of all those who want to escape the hustle and bustle of the city and yearn for spiritual freedom.
This is the instinctive reaction to entering the environment, the kind of force that comes from the heart, as long as you do this industry, you must continue to search, dig, and explore.

Q In your design, is there a fusion of Eastern and Western cultures, and how do you see this fusion?
A There are great cultural differences between the East and the West, and "designing for tomorrow" is a kind of futurism, which is typical of Western thinking. But on the basis of futurism, I hope to be able to infiltrate an expression of the strong contrast between drama and conflict that is not western, hoping to present the philosophy of the East and the humanistic feelings of the East. Whether it is in the face of a wall, or the dynamics of the whole building - from the distance to the whole process of walking in, I hope to express an oriental humanistic temperament, so in my body there is the fusion and superposition of Eastern and Western cultures.

QHow do you think about the youth of today, who can represent the style of young people, and have you ever said that you have become the kind of youth you want?
For example, an architect used the modular concept inside the building to design a car skateboard, which is actually the chassis of a driverless car, and the competitive target of this project is Musk. It's a driverless mobile device, it can be a conference room where people can meet; it can also evolve into a bus or a pickup truck where people can do a lot of things, which is a design that represents the future. And I want to do a lot of things myself, part of the work is to expand the boundaries of architecture, such as the metacosm, such as sustainable development, digitalization, the future of human habitat and so on.
