Volvo officially announced that it will invest in Israeli battery technology company StoreDot with the Volvo Cars Tech Fund to provide resources and assistance for the company's fast-charging battery technology. Volvo is the first luxury car brand to invest in StoreDot, and the partnership will take place within a battery technology joint venture between Volvo Cars and Swedish battery maker Northvolt, with Volvo Cars receiving access to the R&D technology.
According to reports, StoreDot's battery fast charging technology adopts unique silicon-based anode technology, which can provide faster charging speed and longer cruising range for cars with related application software. StoreDot named it a "100in5" battery, which has been sent to actual testing and will be able to mass-produce in 2024.
