More than 70 years ago, 20 major bulb flower growers and exporters in the Netherlands proposed plans to use existing gardens in the Netherlands as a showcase of spring-flowering bulbous flowers. For the past 72 years, Keukenhof has been a showcase for the Dutch floral industry and has also developed into one of the largest gardens in the world, with a special focus on bulb flowers. In the past two years, the park has had to close due to the COVID-19 pandemic. This year, the Keukenhof Tulip Show finally reopened its doors.

Open from March 24 to May 15, the Keukenhof Park Tulip Exhibition consists of an outdoor garden, an indoor flower show, Dutch windmills, wooden shoes and more. The park attracts thousands of visitors every day, a large part of whom are elderly and of course many young people come to admire the beautiful tulips.

In 2019, a record number of visitors visited the Keukenhof Park Tulip Show with 1.5 million visitors. This year, due to the pandemic, the maximum number of visitors per day was limited to about 35,000, compared with a maximum of 78,000 visitors per day until then.

Usually, about 20% of visitors to Keukenhof come from the Netherlands and 80% are foreigners. Last week, it was the Easter holiday in Europe, the weather was nice and the time slots to visit the park were almost fully booked. In previous years, many Asian guests have liked Keukenhof very much, but this year most of the tourists come from Europe, especially Belgium and Germany, as well as Spain, France and even Latvia.
