Scholar Wang Xu's book "A Chinese Painter You Need to Know: A Commentary on Cui Ruzhuo" was published

The book is prefaced by Mr. Cui himself, and is highly authoritative, and is undoubtedly a good book with high readability.

Mr. Cui said in the "Preface": "Unexpectedly, I read the manuscript, especially from the perspective of cultural thought and social development history, bypassing art history, answering specific questions in art history, its views are novel, the arguments are sufficient, it can be said that this book provides new ideas and new methods for the study of painting history in terms of writing. I know Wang Xu, who, under my guidance, has had fourteen years of traditional cultural research experience in retreat, and has a relatively good grasp of the history of philosophical thought, literary history, painting history, and social change, which is reflected in his words. "Writing a commentary on a painter seems simple, but it is not easy, and there are very few mature models to learn from." After all, the status of painters in cultural history is relatively marginal. Looking back at history, a history of painting is just a history of suffering, and it is suffering that creates the glory of painting. When Wang Xu wrote the book, he focused on this issue, and when I saw the artistic experiences of Xu Wei, Shi Tao, Bada Shanren, the "Eight Monsters of Yangzhou", Ren Bonian, Wu Changshuo, Qi Baishi, Huang Binhong, Pan Tianshou, Fu Baoshi, Xu Beihong, Jiang Zhaohe, and so on, as well as my two mentors, Li Kuchan and Mr. Qin Zhongwen, I couldn't help but shed tears and deeply felt the twists and turns and responsibilities of my predecessors. They either moved from the countryside to the city and consolidated the foundation of traditional culture, or used literature and art to reach the national bloodline and national ideals when the country changed, intuitively reflecting the mainstream ideas of social change, and establishing an Eden-style emotional trust in the people's psychology. In addition, after the founding of China, a number of outstanding painters such as Huang Yin, Shi Lu, and Zhou Sicong, who emerged, adhered to the purpose of art serving the people and serving the construction of the country, combined painting with reality, thought of what the country and the people thought, and brought the practical function of painting into full play, so that painting could stand shoulder to shoulder with literature in the true sense and play a practical propaganda and preaching effect. At this point, the social role of the painter is truly revealed. ”

The book "A Chinese Painter You Need to Know: A Biography of Cui Ruzhuo" is the result of the academic research of scholar Wang Xu, who overcame many difficulties and took four years to write. The reason for writing this book, he said, first, he knew Mr. Cui, and writing Mr. Cui was just an attempt for him to write reviews for other people, hoping to accumulate some experience. Second, the purpose is to clear the source and lead the healthy development of contemporary painting.

At the same time, he also hopes to arouse the national pride and self-confidence of his domestic painting peers.
