Xu Xin, vice chairman of the Asian Table Tennis Alliance: Strive for more voice in national table tennis

At 5:30 p.m. on March 30, in Lingshui, Hainan, Xu Xin closed his computer and carefully digested some details of the meeting.

After the WTT Singapore Grand Slam ended, Xu Xin followed the national team back to the training base in Lingshui for quarantine. Compared with the relatively relaxed state of the previous days, Xu Xin on these two days was particularly busy. The meeting of the Executive Committee of the Asian Table Tennis Alliance was held on the afternoon of March 29 and 30, Beijing time, and Xu Xin attended the meeting as the first vice chairman of the Asian Table Tennis Alliance.

At the meeting, important officials including the secretary general of the Asian Table Tennis Federation, the treasurer, the leader of the charter revision team, the chief executive officer, the regional vice presidents and the chairman of the committee were all present; Liu Guoliang, executive vice chairman of the ITTF, chairman of the WTT World Table Tennis Federation Council and president of the Chinese Table Tennis Association, was invited to attend the meeting as the executive committee of the ITTF, and Raul Kalin, secretary general of the ITTF, was also invited to attend.

Since being elected as the vice chairman of the Asian Table Tennis Alliance in October last year, in addition to the intense training and competition, Xu Xin has begun to familiarize himself with and gradually participate in the relevant affairs of the Asian Table Tennis Alliance.

The issues of this Executive Committee meeting are very challenging for Xu Xin in terms of breadth and complexity, and as a top athlete, Xu Xin is always willing to accept challenges and complete tasks well.

During the two-day meeting, in addition to a brief introduction to the continental agreement signed between the Asian Table Tennis Federation and the International Table Tennis Federation, the Asian Table Tennis Federation also explained and discussed important issues such as the update and arrangement of the event after 2022, the adjustment of the world ranking system, the preparation of large-scale events in China, and international exchanges and cooperation.

After the meeting, Xu Xin, who participated in the whole process, said that he had gained a lot: "The agenda of this conference is compact, the topics are wide-ranging, and the amount of information is large, which has played a great role in my rapid integration into the Asian Table Tennis Alliance." ”

Xu Xin knows that this role gives him not only trust, but also a responsibility, summed up in his own words: promote table tennis, and strive for fairness and more discourse for the national table tennis players.

In recent years, with the continuous change of identity roles, Xu Xin is facing an important problem: how to balance the proportion of different roles in life.

As an active national player, the athlete is his primary role. In the inaugural WTT Singapore Grand Slam tournament held in March this year, Xu Xin played in the men's singles. He was sharp on the field, and in his own words: I still have the strength to win on the field.

In the quarter-finals, he was blocked by Germany's Francesca to stop the men's singles round of 16. After the game, he gave an objective evaluation of his performance, and also revealed a veteran's special feelings for the field: "No matter what kind of playerS I face, I can actively mobilize myself on the field." It may not have been possible to mobilize in the first two rounds of the previous competition, but now it will cherish the opportunity of every competition. ”

Off the field, Xu Xin's other heavy role is father. Due to the perennial conquest, Xu Xin cannot accompany his family and children for a long time, and the strangeness between him and his children often requires a period of coexistence to gradually dissolve.

As the child grew older, the role of "father" became more and more important, and Xu Xin also planned to make some different plans for himself than before, "how to train, how to compete, how to play some role in my family," Xu Xin said, "I need to measure the proportion of these things." ”

How to balance the proportion of different roles in life - this is a problem faced by Xu Xin and many people.

Now Xu Xin is balancing the relationship between the three roles of athletes, senior officials of the Asian Table Tennis League, and father in his own way, and he is full of optimism about such a state, because the collision between different roles will bring many unexpected surprises.

Different roles give Xu Xin a more three-dimensional life inside and outside the arena, and Xu Xin is embracing his multi-faceted life with his own enthusiasm and his own way.
