The financial impact of the pandemic has hit most La Liga clubs hard, which is reflected in spending in the summer of 2021, with some clubs not even having a budget at all. People like Real Madrid and Barcelona, who spent so much money in the past, have to be a little more frugal. The only deal at the Bernabeu was Camaranga, while Barcelona were largely dependent on free transfers before Ferran Torres signed at a high price in January. It is this financial constraint that has led to the uneven quality of la Liga's new signings this season. La Liga currently has some players who are leaving Spain after just one season.
Memphis Depay (Barcelona)
In theory, a free transfer from Memphis Depay is a good deal. His performances in Lyon have been outstanding, but he has once again struggled to move towards a truly big club, as he did at Manchester United. At Lyon he is undisputed a mainstay, but at Camp Nou he has struggled with the lack of such a consistent performance, and so far a series of injuries have affected his performance. Scoring 11 goals in 23 starts is certainly not a hit, but his ranking slipped after his acquisitions of Aubameyang, Ferran Torres and Adama Traoré in January. He has ties to both Tottenham and Arsenal.
Aubameyang (Barcelona)
Due to his poor performances and overall attitude in arsenal in his final days, no one would have predicted that Aubameyang would have a positive impact at Barca. He is currently the club's number one striker and has scored 11 goals in 14 starts since his free transfer in January. However, as the european mainstream media revealed, he is one of 24 players that Barcelona are ready to sell, which will fund the biggest transfer window in the club's history this summer.
Cunha (Atletico Madrid)
Last summer, the team that spent the most money in La Liga was Atletico Madrid, who spent 81 million euros on newcomers. A large part of this was spent on Matthews Cunha in Herta. It's a strange signing because at cogna's position, Atletico already have a lot of options, and Griezmann also came here in the summer to offer more competition. He has made 32 appearances for Atletico this season, including 26 off the bench. It was clear that he did not succeed and Atletico would sell at the right price.
De Paul (Atletico Madrid)
Another disappointing signing for Atletico in the summer was De Paul. One of the best attacking midfielders in Serie A last season, the Uruguayan scored nine goals and assisted nine times for Udinese. His performances have allowed him to move to Atletico, but so far he has not been ideal in Spain, scoring just two goals in 21 la Liga games this season. De Paulo may return to Italy a year after his absence, but Atletico want to get close to the €35 million they paid for him, which Inter may be interested in.
Danjuma (Villarreal)
Not all the players on our list will leave Spain for poor performances, but on the contrary, Danjuma may have won himself a large transfer fee for his performance at Villarreal. After a successful experience at Bournemouth – Danjuma has scored 24 goals in 35 games – he moved to Spain last summer when yellow submarines bid €25 million to buy him. Despite his declining goal scoring rate, his 15 goals and five assists in the 2021-22 season remain impressive. Danjuma also showed some of his best form on Europe's biggest stage, scoring six goals in the Champions League this season. Liverpool and Newcastle are his admirers.
