"Forbidden City People" tells the story of "The Forbidden City and Cultural Heritage"

The Forbidden City is a symbol of Chinese culture and a world cultural heritage. Two new books in the "Forbidden City and Cultural Heritage" series written by the "Forbidden City" - Zheng Xinmiao's "Taihe Full - Zheng Xinmiao Says the Forbidden City" and Shan Jixiang's "Living in Beijing - Awakening Industrial Heritage" were recently launched in Beijing.

At the event site, Zheng Xinmiao and Shan Jixiang shared their thoughts and insights as guardians of cultural heritage with the majority of readers with the theme of "The President of the Forbidden City Talks about the Forbidden City and Cultural Heritage".

Zheng Xinmiao served as the director of the Palace Museum for nearly a decade. During his tenure, he launched the century-old overhaul of the Forbidden City, carried out a seven-year clean-up of cultural relics, found out for the first time the "family foundation" of the national treasure of the Forbidden City, promoted exchanges and cooperation between the Palace Museum on both sides of the strait, and put forward the concept of "Forbidden City Studies". After stepping down as president, he was still engaged in research related to the Forbidden City. In the newly published book "Taihe Full - Zheng Xinmiao Says the Forbidden City", he takes readers to appreciate the architectural treasures of the Forbidden City from the three aspects of things, events and people, tells the yesterday and today of the Forbidden City, and introduces the masters and craftsmen of the Forbidden City.

"Handing over the magnificent Forbidden City to the next 600 years in its entirety" was Shan Jixiang's promise during his tenure as director of the Palace Museum. After stepping down as dean, he continued to tell the story of China in cultural heritage to the public. The new book "Habitat in Beijing – Awakening Industrial Heritage" presents the transformation process of Beijing Shougang Park from an old factory building to a Winter Olympic Park and a cultural and creative gathering place for industrial heritage, telling the story of urban culture and urban memory.
