The standard is the first ISO standard project in the mainland automotive lighting industry, filling the gap of international and domestic industry standards, helping to improve the performance and effect of anti-fog coatings for automotive external lamps, thereby ensuring the safety of drivers and pedestrians.

The ISO standard project "Road Vehicle - Anti-fog Coating of External Lighting Devices - Technical Conditions" was initiated by Changzhou Xingyu AutoMotive Light Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "Xingyu Automotive Light"), an enterprise in our region, and China Automotive Technology and Research Center Co., Ltd. co-served as the project leader, and the project number was ISO/WDTS5385. The project has been officially applied to the international industry since April 2018, and by the release of the standard in April 2022, the technical team has completed more than 300 trial verifications, and finally ensured the smooth completion.

According to reports, the temperature difference between the inside and outside of the car lamp in the use process is easy to cause the water vapor fog on the inner surface of the light distribution mirror, and this layer of fog will often reduce the lighting effect of the lamp, bringing some serious safety hazards. To improve this problem, the team considered adding a transparent anti-fog coating to the inner surface of the light distribution mirror, which can mask the traces of condensation of water vapor on the inner surface of the light distribution mirror and ensure light transmission. However, for the application and performance of anti-fog coatings, there was no relevant international standard to rely on. The release of this standard provides a reference and basis for anti-fog coating suppliers, automotive lighting enterprise suppliers and vehicle companies in the development and selection of anti-fog coatings.

Under the development of global economic integration, standards have become the international common language. Professor He Yuntang, co-leader of the project and the Standardization Institute of China Automotive Technology and Research Center Co., Ltd., said that the project has been widely recognized at home and abroad from international communication, domestic voting, international project approval, voting, draft submission, verification, and discussion, and finally passed unanimously. "For the automotive lighting industry, the release of this standard is a milestone and of great significance for enhancing our international voice in this field."
