The guinea-tailed monkey, also known as the flat-toped monkey and the northern guinea-tailed monkey, is a genus of macaques in the primate family. The tail is shorter , thicker at the base , finer at the tip , with a tuft of long hairs at the end , often curved in an " S " shape , resembling a broom or pig's tail , hence the name. It is a narrow distribution area, mainly in southwestern Asia, inhabiting tropical and subtropical forests, camp arboreal life, but also often active on the ground. The body is thick, with a body length of 50-77 cm and a weight of 6-15 kg. The head is flat, with a radiant arrangement of black-brown top hair, like a "plate inch" hairstyle, so it is also called "flat-toped monkey". Males are fiercer, especially during estrus, and females and juveniles are docile. Prefers to live in groups, ranging from about 3-20 animals per group. Can get along well with the langur group. It feeds on plant fruits and also preys on insects and birds. Their living habits are similar to those of macaques, and they spend more time on the ground than macaques and bear monkeys, and they land on all fours when walking and running. When it is frightened by its activity in the tree, it can quickly get off the ground and run away, rarely jumping from between the trees. But stay in the tree when resting.
