The pre-season title-winning Brooklyn Nets are currently facing the embarrassing position of being swept in the first round of the playoffs against the second-place Boston Celtics in the East, and they are now 3-0 behind and have their lives hanging in the balance. None of the Nets' attempts so far have worked, with number one star Kevin Durant struggling, while another star, Kyrie Irving, has been fickle, and the Muslim is currently on fasting and can't help the team too much, even if veteran Blake Griffin plays the best performance of his career, the Nets are not enough to beat the Celtics.
After Sunday's team loss, Nets coach Steve Nash didn't seem to have much to do, making no secret of his frustration and disappointment: "Kyrie (Irving) is on fasting, and Kevin (Durant) has played more than 40 minutes per game for five or six weeks after six or seven weeks out of absence. But we need him [per game] to play 40 minutes or we won't make the playoffs... So I believe it's a big loss for Kevin, who has been carrying a huge burden for us for weeks in a row – and he's the same since Kyrie [Irving] was able to play at home and away. ”
Irving's fasting, in particular, seems to be a concern for Nash, Nash said: "Fasting is not easy, I didn't eat to play tennis, I felt like I was going to fall, so I can imagine what it's like to be hungry for a high-intensity game like the NBA playoffs." So I commend him for the effort he put in the game, and given all the injuries and all the distractions we've suffered this year, both of them have to endure all sorts of problems and challenges and have to play every game for a long time before we can be in that position, so I sympathize with them. ”
While Nash excused his two-member love, Durant refused to blame his slump in the playoffs on fatigue. Durant spoke of his energy in an interview: "I don't think fatigue started, I felt good, I didn't feel breathless, my body wasn't injured, and I wouldn't blame the problem on that. ”
For the Nets, their journey this season may be coming to an end, after all, in the NBA playoffs, there has never been a team that can achieve a reversal without falling behind 3-0.
