The road to the release of Dying Light 2 may be bumpy, but it looks like the project has paid off for developer Techland. The studio revealed that its zombie parkour sequel has sold more than 5 million copies across all platforms since its launch in early February, and monthly sales are said to be "significantly up."
For comparison, take a look at the original Vanishing Light 1, which is also considered a fairly large highlight of the studio. That game, according to new stats released today by Techland, has now sold 20 million copies more than seven years since its launch in 2015, which means that its follow-up works really have a rapid start.
All of this suggests that Gone With the Wind 2 has a bright future. Given that developers have promised five years of post-release DLC support for the game, this is no doubt reassuring. This commitment has already brought new armor, weapons, events, and challenges to the game, and the first substantial story content after launch is scheduled to arrive in June this year.
So far, Techland has only confirmed the release of two story DLC as part of its post-market plans, and there are many more weapons, incidents, enemies, and even paid DLC. So now that Vanishing Light 2 seems to have fully entered the field of "proves to be hot", it will be interesting to see how its roadmap continues to evolve. And, of course, there's also a delayed release of the Switch version, which is now scheduled to be available later this year.
