Even better – experience two OLED portable displays

According to the "Microcomputer 2021 Brand Influence Survey", many users have demand for portable displays, and many of them have already purchased such products. After nearly two years of rapid development, portable displays have made great progress in various functions, such as full-featured Type-C, wireless display, multi-touch and so on. In pursuit of better color display performance, some portable displays have begun to use OLED panels, such as the two portable displays we are reviewing in this issue: the MU156LO1 from Sculptor (sculptor) and the 15Q1F from INNOCN (Joint Innovation), both of which use OLED panels. Let's take a look at how they perform.

Blade Warrior 3mm slim fuselage

The Sculptor MU156LO1 is thinner than the monitors I've reviewed before, and its body thickness is about 3mm at its thinnest point. Why is it so thin? This is because the OLED self-luminescence feature does not require the design of a backlight module like an ordinary liquid crystal display, so it can make the fuselage thinner. MU156LO1 screen is 15.6 inches, the three-dimensional size is 355.3mm× 10mm×225.7mm, similar to the size of an ordinary laptop, weighing only 0.91kg, the lightweight fuselage allows users not to feel cumbersome when going out to carry.

▲Sculptor MU156LO1 body is very thin, the thinnest place is about 3mm, much thinner than ordinary mobile phones.

The MU156LO1 has a hinge designed on the lower back of the fuselage to connect the base bracket, which is also its power supply and interface part. When using, the bracket can be unfolded, which is more convenient to use. Its hinge has a certain damping effect, and it is also equipped with a plastic anti-slip pad at the bottom of the monitor body to prevent the bracket from unfolding too far.

On the left and right sides of the bracket is the interface part of MU156LO1, its interface types and quantities are very rich, with 4 USB Type-C interfaces, of which the two Type-C on the left is a full-featured interface, the upper right Type-C is an OTG interface, which can be connected to external devices such as keyboards and mice through the adapter, and the type-C power supply interface below. In addition, it is equipped with a Mini HDMI and 3.5mm audio output. Of course, if you want to use the USB Type-A interface, it is equipped with a Type-C to Type-A female adapter, and the accessory also includes two Type-C cables, a Mini HDMI to HDMI cable, and a Type-A male to Type-C cable. It can be seen that the MU156LO1 is very rich in both the interface and the attached cables, and the user almost does not need to buy additional accessories after getting it.

Touch-sensitive graphical menus for easier operation

The menu buttons of the traditional monitors we use are divided into two main categories, one is the physical button and the other is the touch button. Both of these methods actually need to be switched back and forth, even if the five-dimensional navigation keys are used, the menu needs to be controlled through the keys. The MU156LO1 is designed with only one button throughout the fuselage, which is both a power key and a menu call key. A long press can turn the machine on and off, and a short press can bring up the menu. Its menu adjustment method and style are also different from the monitor menus we use every day, we can adjust the menu through touch, and its menu adopts a graphical style, which is a bit like the drop-down menu of the mobile phone.

▲INNOCN 15Q1F has two volume control buttons in addition to the power button

For example, when adjusting the brightness, sound, and contrast of the screen, you only need to drag up and down. When selecting the mode, you only need to have a direct click on the corresponding icon, compared to the traditional button method, this touch operation is much more convenient. It is important to note that if you need to adjust the volume or brightness precisely, it is recommended to press and hold the screen with your hand and move slowly.

▲Sculptor MU156LO1 supports game mapping function, which can be controlled by keys and mice.

The MU156LO1 has a built-in gravity sensor that automatically switches horizontally and vertically when the screen is detected to flip, or by tapping the flip icon in the menu. It supports left and right 90 ° and 180 ° flipping, to meet the needs of users more use. In addition, the MU156LO1 also provides a horizontal and vertical screen lock function like a mobile phone, preventing automatic switching of the picture when moving.

Support multi-screen display and wireless screen projection

Mu156LO1 has a three-box icon with an eye under the rotating lock icon in the menu, which is its multi-screen display function, which can realize the operation of multiple source windows on the same screen. For example, you can also access the mobile phone screen in the case of screen access to the PC, but this requires the mobile phone to support the screen output, such as HUAWEI Mate series, P series can be supported.

▲The Sculptor MU156LO1OSD menu adopts a touch-like operation similar to that of mobile phones, and only needs to tap the icon, which is very convenient.

▲Sculptor MU156LO1 has a built-in wireless display function, supporting Android, iOS, Windows three major systems.

In addition, MU156LO1 also supports wireless display function, click the Wi-Fi logo icon in the menu key to enter its wireless display interface. It supports Android, iOS and Windows three major system wireless display, such as using Android phones, open the phone screen projection function in the phone, and then automatically search, and then connect. The screen can not only project the picture, but also support sound, it is more suitable for video projection, so that the small screen instantly becomes a large screen to watch. However, because the resolution on the phone is generally not up to 4K resolution, most of it is Full HD, so the definition projected on the MU156LO1 does not look as high as on the phone.

▲InnoCN 15Q1F is designed with a speaker on each side

MU156LO1 also supports game mapping, and mobile games such as "Peace Elite", "Glory of the King", and "QQ Flying Car" can also be controlled by keyboard and mouse like playing table games. When using it, you need to connect the keyboard and mouse to the Type-C OTG interface on the MU156LO1 through the adapter cable, and then select the game you want to map in the menu. In addition, it also supports customization or joystick, which is very playable.

From the actual experience, because the game screen output on the mobile phone does not reach the height of the 4K resolution of the display, the picture quality does not look particularly clear. In addition, although it is a screen projection method, the delay is still relatively good in general, plus the response time of the display itself 1ms, so the response of the game screen is relatively fast. However, since the MU156LO1 only has a 60Hz refresh rate, when you are used to playing with high refresh rate displays, you may be a little unaccustomed.

Nearly 100% full color gamut coverage

The display effect of Sculptor MU156LO1 is really amazing, its color saturation is very high, compared to an ordinary LED display I use every day, the picture is much more gorgeous, giving people a very obvious subjective feeling. I performed a color analysis on the MU156LO1 with the help of spyder X Elite professional color calibration equipment and DisplayCAL color calibration software. The results show that the mu156LO1's sRGB, Adobe RGB, dci-P3 color gamut coverage area reached 100%, 100%, and 99.7%, respectively, and the color performance was almost perfect. Its brightness value is 412.2cd/m, and the brightness in darkfield is 0, so its contrast can be infinite, which is also the characteristic of OLED.

Summary: More suitable for professional creation

The appearance of the Sculptor MU156LO1 is very thin and light, and it is equipped with a storage protective case, which is convenient for users to carry out, which is also the meaning of portable displays. At the same time, it is also equipped with a wealth of functions, multi-screen display, wireless display, screen flipping, HDR, game mapping, etc., to meet your diverse use needs. In addition, its nearly 100% full color gamut coverage, coupled with an ΔE average of 0.33 and a 4K resolution, makes it more suitable for professional creation. Of course, the price of 3899 yuan limits its audience, but considering its function and color performance, I think it is worth starting.

Shapes like a tablet with a built-in 5000mAh battery

INNOCN has laid out a number of products in the field of portable displays, especially in oled products, 15Q1F is one of them. It doesn't come with a base like the N1U Pro we've reviewed before, and it looks like a large 15.6-inch tablet. If you want to support it, you need to use it with the included bracket protector. Its bracket case is like a mobile phone case, with openings in the buttons and interfaces, and the black shell can also be integrated with the fuselage.

▲INNOCN 15Q1F is equipped with a foldable bracket protective sleeve that can be used as a bracket.

With a body size of 358mm× 233mm×7mm, the INNOCN 15Q1F is not too thin compared to other OLED portable monitors we have reviewed. Why is there such a big gap between the same OLED portable display? In fact, this is because 15Q1F adds a 5000mAh capacity battery to the display, thus achieving true portability and can be used anytime, anywhere.

The INNOCN 15Q1F doesn't have many body interfaces, it only comes with two full-featured Type-C interfaces and a Mini HDMI interface. The interface is designed on the right side of the fuselage, and above the interface is its speaker, and the speaker has one on each side of the fuselage, which is symmetrical. Further up are its two volume control buttons, the top is its power on key, the power switch short press/light screen, long press on/off.

Paired with a stylus, it has a pressure sensitivity of 4096 levels

In order to make the portable display have more use scenarios, INNOCN also equipped a stylus for the 15Q1F, which can achieve a pressure sensitivity of 4096 levels with the display. At present, the pressure sense has 512, 1024, 2048, 4096, 8192 different levels, the higher the level, the more sensitive the pressure sense, the mainstream pressure sense to 1024 and 2048 mostly, and 4096 belongs to the professional creation level, which can meet the use needs of professional people.

▲INNOCN 15Q1F comes with a stylus that supports 4096 levels of pressure sensitivity.

Its stylus needs to install an AAAA battery, we simply experienced it, swiping back and forth on the screen, drawing lines and feel very strong, almost no delay phenomenon. At the same time, the induction of the nib is also very precise, and there will be no breakage in the line drawn back and forth, and the line of different thicknesses can be output according to the intensity of the pressure. If you need to set or adjust the pen, you can click the pen icon in the lower right corner of the desktop (you need to connect the PC to the display via USB), and then click the "Pen Settings" of the three dots on the right to adjust the pen and Windows Ink, such as choosing the right hand or left hand, the font size of the writing, etc.

"Two Finger Zen" summons the menu

When I first used the INNOCN 15Q1F, I had trouble adjusting the display because I didn't know how to get into its OSD menu, which made me a little confused. After reading the instruction manual, I found that it did not set a separate menu key, if you want to call up the menu, you only need to use two fingers to swipe down in the lower right corner of the display. This way of calling up the menu is very special and creative. At the same time, its menu is set to a similar style to the phone drop-down menu, just need to click on the corresponding icon. Some of its icon functions have no text prompts, users can only try slowly when using, if you can be accompanied by minimalist text may be easier to understand.

Even better – experience two OLED portable displays

▲INNOCN 15Q1F can call up the menu by sliding two fingers in the lower right corner of the monitor, and the menu adopts touch-based operation, which is more convenient.

Its menu function seems simple, but it does not drop any adjustment to the commonly used functions. In addition to the common brightness, contrast, mode selection, you can also adjust the color temperature value, clarity, hue, etc., just need to drag the progress bar like the operation, very fast. The INNOCN 15Q1F supports landscape and vertical switching, which can be locked in the menu. In addition, the display's power can be viewed in the menu.

INNOCN 15Q1F also supports wireless display function, clicking two small boxes in the menu will enter the wireless screen projection interface. At this point, take out the mobile phone to enter the screen projection function, search for the device and connect. 15Q1F supports Bluetooth, when the phone is connected to it, it can also brush vibrato like directly on the phone, but this requires mobile phone support.

Color gamut coverage is close to 100%

For a portable display that focuses on professional color, the INNOCN 15Q1F has a color depth of up to 12bit (8bit +FRC), so how does it perform in terms of color? After running the monitor warm-up for 1 hour, we first calibrated it for color and then performed color analysis via spyder X Elite and DisplayCAL software. From the results of the analysis, the color performance of 15Q1F is not much different from the quality of many OLED displays, its sRGB is 99.9%, the Adobe RGB color gamut coverage area is 95.6%, and the DCI-P3 color gamut coverage area is 99.7%. It can be seen that its mainstream color gamut coverage area is close to 100%, and the color performance is beyond doubt, compared with the N1U Pro professional portable display we have previously evaluated, the increase in color gamut is very obvious.

Even better – experience two OLED portable displays

▲InNOCN 15Q1F's sRGB is 99.9%, Adobe RGB color gamut coverage area is 95.6%, dcI-P3 color gamut coverage area is 99.7%.

▲INNOCN 15Q1F supports up to 12bit (8bit+FRC) color depth.

Also, how does the 15Q1F perform in terms of color accuracy? The results show that its maximum (least accurate) ΔE is 0.78, the average is 0.2, and the color accuracy of 15Q1F is comparable to that of high-end professional-grade displays. In addition, we also tested its color temperature stability, the average color temperature of 15Q1F is 6600K, its color temperature can be stabilized near 6500K from 5% brightness, and the overall curve is stable without obvious fluctuations.

▲The color temperature curve of INNOCN 15Q1F is very stable, and the average color temperature is 6600K.

Finally, in terms of brightness and contrast, the maximum brightness of 15Q1F is 394.1cd/m, which is not much different from the official nominal 400cd/m and is within the margin of error. In addition, it has a brightness of 0 in dark field, so the contrast can be infinite.
