Recently, Tesla CEO Musk shared on the earnings call that Tesla is continuing to study optimus robots, Musk said that people have not yet realized the scale of the Optimus robot project, its importance will become obvious in the next few years, and even Optimus will eventually be more valuable than the car business, than FSD.
Launched during Tesla Artificial Intelligence Day in August 2021, the Optimus robot consists of an FSD on-board computer on a Tesla vehicle as well as a visual perception system and 40 miniature motors. Musk mentioned that such a robot may be used to perform dangerous or cool work of humans in the early stage, and the robot will become more advanced in the future, which can be competent for tasks such as caring for people and cooking.
Regarding the market outlook for robots, Musk also said that by around 2050, most homes will have home robots. Although Tesla has not yet announced the mass production time of the Optimus robot, Musk said that the cost of the robot will not be crazy, and the price may not exceed a car.
