On the morning of April 19, on the occasion of the 27th World Book Day, the "Life Library" of Hubei Provincial Cancer Hospital was officially inaugurated, becoming a book station for patients and staff to read leisurely and relax their minds.
Hubei Provincial Cancer Hospital "Life Library" is located in the atrium on the third floor of the outpatient building, donated by caring institutions and enterprises. The library is divided into a dining area and a reading area, providing selected books such as magazines and periodicals, health and wellness, psychological rehabilitation, literature and art, social sciences, etc. Some books are purchased by the social work department of the hospital through the form of resource links, and others are donated by love.
Xiao Yan, secretary of the Discipline Inspection Committee of the Hospital, said that reading is both subtle and silent, and the original intention of opening the library is to provide a relaxed and pleasant atmosphere for patients and soothe the anxiety of patients with the fragrance of books. She also revealed that in the next step, the hospital will plan and launch health lectures, psychological counseling, social work support, doctor-patient interaction and other rich activities around the "bookstore" to continuously enhance the patient's medical experience.
