The Knicks have played a disappointing 2021-22 season, and compared to last season's playoffs, the Knicks this season can't even break into the playoffs.
In fact, questions about the Knicks' management have been plaguing the team, even if they are in the city of the league's biggest city, but since the famous Patrick Ewing, this Knicks have not been able to reach the Finals.
That means the Knicks have to change this offseason, and in fact, if the Knicks can attract an All-Star player, they will definitely be the team that gets the most attention in the league. The advice given by James Pearsey is that the Knicks can target the Jazz's core backcourt Donovan Mitchell this offseason:
Jazz get: RJ Barrett, Evan Fournier, 2022 first-round picks, 2023 first-round picks, 2024 first-round picks, 2024 first-round exchange rights
Knicks get: Donovan Mitchell
The Jazz have not been particularly impressed by fans this past season, and apart from Rudy Gobert being shortlisted for the best defensive player, the Jazz have not performed particularly well at all.
In this deal, even if the Jazz are willing to put Donovan Mitchell on the shelf, it doesn't seem necessary for the Knicks to send Barrett and veteran Fournier plus as many as 3 first-round picks and 1 first-round exchange of chips.
Mitchell's addition will also give the Knicks an All-Star-level building stone, and Mitchell does have a style of play that is easy to excite the Knicks.
