How often do girls wash their underwear? Is it easy to deform when washing too much?

▎ WuXi AppTec content team editor

Regarding the change and washing time of women's underwear (bras), the habits of different women may vary greatly.

For example, some girls are accustomed to bathing every day and changing every day.

But some girls will say: "I sit in the office all day, not a drop of sweat comes out, should not have to wash so hard, right?" Won't it deform? ”

In fact, there is no standard answer to this question.

When should I change my bra?

In general, a bra is best changed after wearing it 2 to 3 times.

How can it be "worn" once?

For example, a bra that has only been worn for a few hours and does not sweat at all is not considered to be completely "worn" once; but if it is worn for several hours, it also sweats a lot, or it is dirty and smelly, according to the situation, it can be counted as "worn two or three times" (such as sports bras must be washed every time they are worn).

It's best to rotate a few more bras so that the cups and straps can be "rested" to better maintain shape and elasticity.

If you wear the same bra for 2 consecutive days, take it off in time when you go to bed every day, so that it has at least a few hours of "rest" time (preferably 1 day off). But don't wear it every day, and wear it every time you wash it and dry it, so it's easy to deform.

And if you are lazy, wear two or three times and do not wash the bra in time, it is often easy to hide dirt and grime, and the dander, grease and sweat on your body will remain in it, becoming a "hotbed" for bacteria and fungi.

On the one hand, it will leave stains and odors on it, on the other hand, it will also expose the skin to bacteria and fungi irritation, and it is easy to cause rashes or local infections.

The correct posture for washing bras

When washing a bra, it is necessary to remove dander, grease and sweat, as well as take care of the fabric.

However, the more frequently washed, the greater the effect on the external force of the fabric, the cups are often easily deformed, and the shoulder straps will gradually lose elasticity.

Here's how to wash your bra correctly and try to extend your wearing time.

1. Preparation before washing

Check the wash label on the bra to see if the maximum washing temperature and washing method meet the requirements.

Separate light and dark bras;

Laundry detergent is best to choose underwear special detergent, or fine fabric special detergent. If not, it can be replaced with a "non-Bio" detergent, which is a laundry product without enzymes, such as silk wool, infant laundry detergent/laundry soap, etc.

2. Method of hand washing bras

If you have time, it is best to wash your bra by hand.

After all, many bras have delicate decorations such as lace and pendants, and machine washing may be easy to wash, and the steel rings inside may also run out, break other clothes in the washing machine, or poke at the chest the next time they wear it, which is very uncomfortable.

In a clean basin, soak in cold or warm water for 1 hour and pour detergent to dissolve thoroughly;

Wash one by one, gently rub (if the skin is sensitive, you can wear rubber gloves), repeatedly soak in the water and then fish it up, the foam generated is more, the washing effect is better, but be careful not to twist the steel ring to deformation.

The bottom of the cup and around the armpits should be carefully cleaned, as these places are prone to sweat residue and bacteria.

Wash it with clean water a few times, then pour out the water and gently squeeze it to drain it. Do not use the way of wringing (twisting), it is easy to damage the steel rim, resulting in the stretching and deformation of the bra.

3. How to machine wash your bra

Before washing, fasten the bra and shoulder straps tightly so as not to spoil other clothing.

Put the bra in a separate mesh laundry bag to avoid deformation (if there is no laundry bag, you can also use a pillowcase instead, be careful not to stuff it too full to avoid stirring up).

In order to avoid the bra pilling and maintaining elasticity, be sure to wash it with cold water (30 ° C, too hot water is easy to fade), choose the mildest and lowest speed mode on the washing machine (such as "gentle" mode, 600 rpm).

4. Precautions after washing

Shape: When the bra is still wet, tidy it up and let it return to its original shape.

Do not dry: Do not use the "drying" function of the drum washing machine, and try not to use the dryer, heat and violent vibration will destroy the fit of the bra and reduce the elasticity.

Natural drying: It is best to hang in half on a hanger or clothesline, with the middle facing up and the shoulder straps facing down, drying vertically. Never clip the shoulder straps with a clothespin or run the clothesline directly through the shoulder straps, as the shoulder straps will lose elasticity and your chest will sag when worn. If possible, you can also lay the bra flat on a towel and let the cups dry in their natural shape.

Storage: After drying, place the bra flat in the closet. For most underwear, do not fold, squash or roll up (e.g. when a bra is folded in half and the two cups are re-folded), which can cause the bra to deform permanently and irreversibly.

Generally speaking, a bra can be worn for about 6 months to 1 year if it is worn regularly.

If you lose elasticity, deform, wear, it's time to throw it away and buy a new one. But if it's properly maintained, a good quality bra can be worn for years.

Washing underwear too often or too little is not good for both the bra itself and the woman's skin, so it is important to wash the bra correctly. Have you learned?
