The Catalyst map is a slick, albeit abandoned forerunner base that has been reclaimed by nature. 343 described Catalyst as a vertically symmetrical arena characterized by a suspended skybridge and a light bridge connecting the two parts of the map.

The Breaker map is a deported shipyard, full of debris, located on a dusty desert planet. Its core element is a giant plasma-cut beam of light that moves around the map, around which players can fight in their own dangers or interests. 343 describes Breaker as a "pseudosymmetric BTB" map.

Catalyst and Breaker will support all existing multiplayer modes, as well as new modes for the next season.
