In 2019, one plus 7 Pro brought an excellent quality 2K OLED high brush screen, which raised the screen quality of domestic mobile phones by a notch, and major manufacturers also paid more and more attention to screen quality. Since then, the 2K screen has been rapidly popularized in domestic high-end models, and a series of flagship models with excellent screen quality such as OPPO Find X2 and Xiaomi 11 have appeared.
Although it is not difficult to popularize high-quality 2K and OLED screens on high-end machines, it is very difficult for low-end models to use a qualified 1080P OLED screen, and 2K OLED is even more distant to use in low-end models.
But this time, finally the organic type of 2K OLED screen dried to the price of 2000 yuan, it is K50. Before the release of the K50 series, I once thought that only the top version would have a 2K screen, but what I didn't expect was that the standard version sold from 2399 yuan also carried a 2K screen, which was the most unexpected place for me. After reading the reviews of the Tianji 9000, I was more looking forward to the Tianji 8100, so I started the K50 standard version for the first time.
After a period of deep use, today we will talk about this mobile phone that may be the ceiling of the price/performance ratio for the whole of 2022: Redmi K50.

First of all, let's talk about this 2K, 120Hz direct screen on the K50, allow me to say first: 2K direct screen YYDS! The feel and texture of the straight screen are indeed not as good as the curved screen, but there is no problem of edge mistouching and watching video reflections, and the practicality is higher than the curved screen to nowhere.
Of course, at this price point, it is really unlikely that you want both 2K and curved screens, after all, the cost is there.
In terms of perception, the K50 screen as a whole is very transparent, the font is clear, the white is pure, there is no obvious red or blue, there is no rainbow pattern up and down, and there is no serious angle of viewability attenuation. In short, it is excellent, and there is no kind of excellence at this price point! It is competitive enough even at higher prices.
When the K50 was just purchased before, the 120Hz high brush and DC dimming could not coexist, and the two could only choose one, but after the system update of the previous two days, it was able to turn on at the same time. Although it came a little slower, it was still excellent to support the coexistence of high brushes and eye protection!
Battery life and processor, system experience
Another big selling point of the K50 is the processor and large battery, K50 debuted MediaTek Tianji 8100 processor, four A78 large cores + four A55 small cores, the GPU is a six-core Mali-G610. In fact, compared to the Tianji 9000, I still expect more 8100, because it is a more mature architecture, without the high power consumption X2 super core, which also means that it may be more power-efficient.
It is also true that K50's 5500 mAh battery, measured in the indoor plug-in card wifi environment, 2K, 120Hz fully open, screen brightness of about 60%: one hour b station 1080P video, one hour Weibo, one hour short video, one hour original god and half an hour after taking photos and videos, continuous use of four and a half hours, the remaining power is 52%; then continue to watch b station 1080P video + original god, 3 hours and 20 minutes after the remaining 1%, the test is interspersed with WeChat, A round of testing lasted a total of 7 hours and 50 minutes.
Next I tested the K50's charging speed, starting from 1%, charging 38% in 10 minutes, charging 87% in half an hour, and showing 100% at the front desk for a total of 47 minutes. Although the charging speed is not fast compared with other models, it is a large battery of 5500 mAh, and it is acceptable to be slow.
This battery life level is the best mobile phone I have used so far, if you are not a mobile game player, daily just brush the web page, chat WeChat, watch videos, then a day of charging should be very relaxed.
In terms of daily use and performance, the K50 equipped with the Tianji 8100 processor has a good fluency performance, coupled with MIUI's rich functions, it is very worry-free to use. On the high brush adaptation, MIUI is not perfect, and shopping software such as b station, Weibo, toutiao and Jingdong Taobao can run at 120Hz;
However, live streaming software such as map APP, Douyin, Tencent Video, iQiyi and Huya Douyu will still lock 60 frames.
In terms of performance, K50 is more conservative: the average frame rate of the original god in the balanced mode is only about 45 frames, and there are serious fluctuations, and the whole process is not smooth, especially after the temperature comes up, it will feel obviously stuck.
After turning on the performance mode, the K50 game experience is much better, the average number of frames can reach more than 50 frames, and the number of frame fluctuations has also been reduced. However, the body temperature of the frame and back also rises significantly, about 47 to 48 degrees, which is hot.
Although this result is already better than the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 model, I think xiaomi will actually perform better if it does not make so many restrictions.
shortcoming
Speaking of which, the advantages of the K50 are almost the same, the screen, processor, large battery is the most impressive impression it has left on me, and other aspects are almost all the places where the K50 compromises.
First of all, in terms of appearance, the biggest feeling that K50 gives me is that the color matching is significantly regressed compared with the texture of the whole machine K40, and the plastic border and the screen bracket that is higher than the circle drag the texture back;
The two colors of ghost and illusion highlight the cheap feeling of the machine;
So on the whole, these machines look down, I personally think that only silver is relatively good-looking, plus good touch AG frosted glass, texture at least there is no drag.
But where there is the same white of the K40, I think the overall appearance of the K50 will be much better, and it will not be criticized by so many people in the color matching.
Secondly, the K50's X-axis motor has a soft vibration, less power, low volume and insufficient sound from the dual speakers. It should be a trade-off made for large batteries and control costs.
Finally, the K50 is photographed, even if it is optical image stabilization, I advise everyone not to expect too much. Because I currently do not have a model similar to the K50 price point, so take the one plus 7 Pro I have been using before to make a simple comparison, one is snapdragon 855 + IMX586, one is Tianji 8100 + IMX582, the two main camera specifications are close, the processor platform is different, here only compare the imaging effect of the main camera.

All of the above samples are shot in the unopened night mode, the purpose is to let everyone see the performance of the K50 in various scenes, although the two models are indeed not in a price point, but put together just let everyone have a psychological expectation, to see how big the gap is in the 2022 2000-plus model and the old flagship 3 years ago.
At present, the K50's camera ability is very general, it is obviously a model positioned in performance and screen, and the camera has not been carefully adjusted. There is only one optical image stabilization, it is impossible to fundamentally change the photo effect, in order to choose K50 for optical image stabilization, you have to consider it carefully. It seems that the MediaTek platform still has a big gap with the Qualcomm platform in terms of imaging, and MediaTek wants to catch up and continue to work hard!

After talking about the K50, it is time to summarize it. The K50 has compromises: the appearance and color scheme are somewhat cheap, the motors and speakers are castrated, and the camera is still scanned. But it has a 2K screen that this price model does not have, a long battery life and an energy-efficient Tianji 8100 processor. For me personally, a model positioned at a price of 2,000 to 3,000 yuan, battery life, performance and screen priority must be the highest, and other aspects can only be a plus.
Even if it is a model of the main line, due to cost constraints in terms of photography and appearance, it may not be much stronger than the K50, the processor performance is much worse, and many models are still using rotor motors and single speakers. So look at it this way, the shortcomings of the K50 are common in this price point, and the K50 has done a good job in terms of peripheral configuration
So, this K50 is very satisfied with me personally, it has many compromises, but its shining point is enough to cover up these flaws, which may be the best value mobile phone you can buy at the price of 2000 yuan this year!
