According to Rodionov, associate professor of the Chinese Language Department of the Oriental Department of St. Petersburg State University, the Russian Children's Times Publishing House is preparing to publish two books by Chinese children's literature writer HeiHe this year: "Black Flame" and "The Moose of Evenk".
As early as 2019, Black Crane's "Black Flame" won the third "Bianchi International Literary Award" novel award. Named after the famous Russian natural writer Bianchi, the "Bianchi International Literary Prize" was established by the Moscow State General Library in 2015 and is selected annually. Bianchi's masterpiece "Forest Newspaper" is a must-read for many Chinese children.

Today, I will introduce another masterpiece of the black crane, "The Moose of Evenk". "Evenk's Moose" is a picture book jointly created by writer Kurozuru and painter Jiu'er, published by Relay Press in 2018, and won awards such as the 2020 International Children's Book Alliance (IBBY) Honorary Work, the 2020 American Aesop Honor Award, and has been published in French, German, English, Korean, Swedish and other editions before that.
"The Moose of Evenk" uses poetic brushstrokes to record the legendary story of mutual trust and companionship between the old hunter of the Evenk tribe, a nomadic ethnic group in northern China, and a moose.
The moose is the largest of the deer family, distributed in the mainland, the Small Xing'an Mountains and the Wanda Mountains, as well as around Xinjiang. The Evenk people, meaning "people who live in the great mountain forests", live in the boundless mountain forests of the Daxing'an Mountains in northern China, and live by raising reindeer and hunting.
The Evenk believe in sacred deer and live side by side with reindeer, and are the only and final deer tribe in China, with fewer than 300 people.
The famous children's literature critic Liu Xuyuan once commented on the black crane: Writers like Seton, China did not have them in the past, but later there was, that is, the black crane. His work is in line with Sidon and Adamson. Black Crane is the most likely Chinese animal novelist to become a world-class animal novelist like Seton.
As a picture book, the paintings of Evenk's Moose are equally outstanding. As the first illustrator in China to be selected into the honor list of the International Children's Book Alliance, Jiu'er spent three years and went deep into the hinterland of the Daxing'anling Forest several times, using exquisite and meticulous hand-drawn drawings to restore the true and magnificent nature.
