Chen Minghui, a Shu embroidery craftsman who "jumped off", insisted on 17 years after the adventure of the teacher

Cover news reporter Liu Kexin

"I remember that it was hot that day (like today) and I was so discouraged that I thought that this time, I wouldn't learn without finding a teacher again. As a result, as soon as I lifted my head, I saw the signboard of Teacher Hao's studio. Chen Minghui, who has been in the Shu embroidery industry for 17 years, remembers his "adventure with the teacher" and still remembers it vividly.

Outside the window are tall ginkgo biloba trees and low camphor trees, swaying in the wind under the sunlight. Inside the house, three Shu embroidery craftsmen grabbed embroidery needles and worked quickly without a word, and the noise of traffic across the wall had nothing to do with them. On April 12, hao Shuping, the representative inheritor of the first batch of national intangible cultural heritage projects in Shu embroidery, was located in the studio of Sending Xianqiao in Chengdu, and the cover reporter met Chen Minghui for the second time. Chen Minghui began to learn Shu embroidery with Hao Shuping in 2005, and has now been named a provincial master of arts and crafts, and is the most senior Shu embroidery craftsman in the studio.

Willow Dark Flower Ming Meets Master: You and watch

"Since I was a child, I have had two aspirations: one is to become a soldier and the other is to be an embroidery girl." Chen Minghui's "fantasy" about Shu embroidery comes from a movie he watched when he was a child: "When I was a child, I had a TV at home, and my favorite thing to watch was movies and TV series. At that time, I watched a movie about embroidered women, and the plum blossoms in it were so beautifully embroidered! Such an idea was buried in her heart until 2005, when Chen Minghui, who was still a buyer at the time, made up his mind to learn Shu embroidery. In that era when the Internet was not yet popular, Chen Minghui had only two methods: one was to ask friends, and the other was to try my luck on the street: "I have walked through many places, Wenshu Fang, Pidu District have been there, just to send the Xianqiao piece has come four or five times." ”

"Some people tell me that you pay a few hundred dollars here, if you want to learn, you can learn, if you don't learn, forget it." But I really wanted to find a teacher with solid skills and a good reputation, so I also offended a lot of people. Chen Minghui will recall that the day he met Teacher Hao Shuping was a very hot day. At that time, he had already come to send Xianqiao many times, but he had never met the ideal teacher, and it was the time when he was gradually discouraged. Walking to the shade, I inadvertently looked up and happened to see the sign of Hao Shuping's Shu embroidery studio. Chen Minghui didn't say a word, and as soon as his feet were lifted, he walked in. But her enthusiasm ran into a wall here with Hao Shuping.

"Teacher Hao told me at that time that the person she was looking for had several conditions: one was that she was kind and virtuous, and the other was that she was sure that she would always do Shu embroidery, and that there was also a condition," Chen Ming would laugh and say, "Is a person who can drink two sips of wine." "Learning art first learns people, and then says that it can be inherited and has a fate, and Hao Shuping's standard of accepting apprentices is the inheritor of Shu embroidery skills." Hao Shuping said: "The semester here is a total of 3 years, I see that you are a bit 'jumpy', you first go back to think about it, make sure you want to learn again." Chen Ming would agree one after another, but he held his breath in his heart: Teacher Hao, you should watch!

These requirements, Chen Ming will always keep in mind. In the 17 years of Shu embroidery career, Chen Minghui did not think about being lazy. "That kind of laziness, I am not impossible, after trying for two days, I am actually more tired than when I embroidered faster."

As early as March this year, the cover news reporter had stepped into this studio, and in the face of the visitors, Chen Minghui only said hello lightly, and then continued to bury his head in his own business, and now when he talks about Shu embroidery, he sentences the two of them. Chen Minghui told reporters that many people had told her about her enthusiasm when she talked about Shu embroidery, "They said that I was 'like falling in love with Shu embroidery'." When Chen Minghui was interviewed, the excited look of red face and smiling eyes was what she called "like a full charge", "People say that the handicraft industry has always been 'can stand poverty, can withstand loneliness'." I didn't think so at the time, I just thought I liked this. ”

As Hao Shuping's 17-year student, Chen Minghui always talks about teachers, and he admires them: "Teacher Hao's thinking is very long-term and avant-garde. Many embroidery methods and materials, she has used for a long time, and the industry has gradually emerged. She was also very grateful to the teacher, and what Teacher Hao taught her could not be learned. Now, she wants to pass on what she's learned. In her opinion, if someone has to join Shu embroidery all the time, this skill is "alive". "I'm going to teach it, and I'm going to give it to people when I 'bump'." Just like I felt as a club teacher in elementary school, these young people really don't think the same way they do. ”

Success also "jumps out", and defeat also "jumps out"

Hao Shuping and Chen Minghui (According to interviewees)

In 2005, when she visited her teacher, Hao Shuping described Chen Ming as "a bit out of the way" and asked her to go back and think clearly about coming again. But what I didn't expect was that it was this "jump off" that made it easier for Chen Ming to have new ideas and ideas in the Shu embroidery industry, and he also became the only one in the same batch of twenty or thirty people who still remained in the Shu embroidery industry.

Chen Minghui remembers most clearly when he embroidered "Nine Ruyu" (also known as "Nine Fish Figures") in 2008. The carp in "Nine Like Jade" can best reflect the fine thread of Shu embroidery; the lotus flowers in "Nine Ru Yu" can also reflect the bright color and natural color of Shu embroidery. "At that time, no one in the studio was there, and I saw that the part of the flowers was beautiful, so I took it upon myself to embroider the flowers first." A flower is embroidered for more than 10 days, and then the leaves are embroidered. When embroidering leaves, Chen Ming would go against the norm and "jump out" to embroider several green old silk threads together, not expecting to look unexpectedly good. Dark green, light green, new green... The different greens are intertwined, making the embroidered green leaves appear clear and vibrant. But this nearly half a month of results, Hao Shuping let Chen Minghui dismantle and start over. Originally, the order of embroidering flowers and then embroidering leaves was reversed, resulting in poor local effects of the work. "Success is also it ('Nine Fish Diagram') and defeat is also it." Chen Ming would laugh.

Tearing down the heavy embroidery, such a thing has appeared more than once in Chen Minghui, which is also the embodiment of Hao Shuping's strict requirements for students. Embroidered for two months, "Human Face Peach Blossom", said to cut it, Chen Minghui's tears swirled in his eyes, and never fell. "The girls inside have cried, including myself." Chen Ming would point to the studio and say. But Chen Ming's thinking will "jump out", so that she can think open. "I always want to do something, and if I don't do it well, I will dismantle it and start over." Over the years, family reasons, personal reasons, reasons for having children... I ruled out all these reasons and stuck with them until now. ”

Hao Shuping quipped to Chen Minghui: "When are you leaving?" Chen Minghui always smiled and replied, "I want to learn the craft here, and your craft has not been taught to me, so I will not leave." The two masters and apprentices always ridiculed like this, but when facing Shu embroidery, it was the seriousness and competition of The Master Chengyi.

"Although when I entered the industry at that time, Teacher Hao told me that your personality was a bit 'jumpy' and might not be suitable. But until now, Teacher Hao's most recognized of me is still 'jumping out'. Chen Ming would say.

Chen Ming will say that because of physical reasons, once he thinks about more things, he will have a headache. So I "only think about what I am doing now, and only think about how to do the things in my hands well." Because life is decades long or short, every minute and second must be walked step by step, just like the largest Shu embroidery, but also a needle and a thread to embroider, the same." Chen Ming will understand the persistence of 17 years in this way.
