The event was held on April 26, 2024 in the screening hall on the first floor of the Chengdu Museum. The gathering brought together authoritative experts and scholars in the field of Shu embroidery, inheritors of intangible cultural heritage protection, representatives of libraries, museums and schools, as well as people from all walks of life who care about the development of Shu embroidery culture, to witness this landmark cultural event.

Shu embroidery is one of the four famous embroideries in the mainland, with a long history and exquisite skills, and is an excellent representative of China's traditional crafts, and was included in the first batch of national intangible cultural heritage in 2006. "Shu Embroidery Atlas" is a record of contemporary Chinese arts and crafts masters and their Shu embroidery art treasures, jointly created by the Sichuan Provincial Administration for Market Regulation and Sichuan Fine Arts Publishing House. The book contains 166 classic works created by 18 Shu embroidery masters, about 300 pictures, through careful production, ingenious design, perfectly presents the exquisite skills and profound cultural connotation of Shu embroidery art, records the innovative achievements of contemporary arts and crafts masters and the modernization process of Shu embroidery art, is a book with illustrated texts, learning value, scientific research value and collection value.

At the beginning of the event, Jiang Yongning, editor-in-chief of Sichuan Fine Arts Publishing House, delivered a speech. She pointed out that the publication of the "Shu Embroidery Atlas" is not only a comprehensive display of Shu embroidery skills, but also a strong promotion of the inheritance and development of China's excellent traditional culture. Through the in-depth excavation and comprehensive sorting of the national intangible cultural heritage of Shu embroidery, the readers can deeply appreciate the unique charm of Shu embroidery and promote the wide dissemination and in-depth development of Shu embroidery culture.

Wang Kangjian, deputy chief of the Quality Technology Section of Sichuan Fiber Inspection Bureau, introduced the purpose and compilation process of the "Shu Embroidery Atlas" on behalf of the author, expounded the uniqueness of the book in recording Shu embroidery skills and showing the artistic value of Shu embroidery, and led the guests to appreciate the representative works of Shu embroidery masters. He said that he hopes to stimulate more people's interest and love for Shu embroidery through this exquisite book.

A video of the introduction of Shu embroidery was played at the event, which vividly demonstrated the profound cultural heritage of Shu embroidery through the perfect combination of picture and sound. The audience was amazed by the ingenuity of Shu embroidery.

Zhao Min, a scholar of Shu embroidery and an associate professor of Sichuan University, fully affirmed the work selection, content arrangement, binding design and publication value of the book "Shu Embroidery Atlas", and expressed his heartfelt respect to the masters who created artistic masterpieces. She pointed out that Shu embroidery is not only a skill, but also a carrier of culture, which carries the history, folk customs and aesthetic concepts of the Sichuan and Chongqing regions, and is an important part of the excellent traditional culture of the Chinese nation, and the inheritance of Shu embroidery culture has important value and significance.

Students from Chengdu Textile College, Sichuan Huaxin Modern Vocational College, Chengdu Pidu District Anjing School, Chengdu Tianhui Primary School Jinbei Branch, and Chengdu Jinyang Primary School displayed their hand-embroidered Shu embroidery works, reflecting the school's achievements in traditional cultural characteristics education and the love and inheritance of the younger generation for Shu embroidery culture.

Finally, a grand book donation ceremony was held at the event site, and representatives of Sichuan Provincial Library, Chengdu Library, Chengdu Museum, Sichuan Intangible Cultural Heritage Protection Center, Chengdu Intangible Cultural Heritage Inheritance and Development Research Center, Sichuan Textile Engineering Society, Sichuan Normal University, Chengdu Textile College, Sichuan Huaxin Modern Vocational College, Chengdu Pidu District Anjing School, Chengdu Tianhui Primary School Jinbei Branch, and Chengdu Jinyang Primary School accepted the book donation. As an important material to express the traditional culture of Bashu, the "Shu Embroidery Atlas" will become a window for more people to understand and love Shu embroidery, and promote the development of Shu embroidery culture to a deeper and broader field.
