Yao Yuanzhi, a famous calligrapher and painter of the Qing Dynasty, "Inscription Yun Shouping Imitation song and Yuan Dynasty landscape album", collected by the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
Yao Yuanzhi (1776-1852), also known as Bamboo Leaf Tingsheng. In the tenth year of Jiaqing (1805), he entered the priesthood, and was promoted to the right attendant of the Ministry of Works, and was promoted to the left capital of the imperial history. Yao Yuanzhi's articles are elegant, calligraphy and painting are combined. The "Pillow Scripture Hall Inscription" calls its calligraphy a "wave of kamikaze", and also praises its calligraphy as "the present people do not let the ancients".
Yao Yuanzhi was born in a family of calligraphy and painting, and in his early years he learned from the ancestor of the clan, Yao Nai, Bo Tong, who was elegant and good at calligraphy. His father, Yao Yuanshou, served as the governor of Lu'an Prefecture. Yao Yuanzhi was influenced by his family's learning since childhood, and later studied with Zhang Wentao, and together with Cui Xu and Mei Chengdong, he was called "Zhang Men Sancaizi".
Yao Ying called his poems: "Ancient and recent works of Yato Tang Yin, MianMiao Qi, Handsome qi, Qing Ci Li sentences incessantly, although different from the Jin and Chu dynasties, but also the legacy of the King of Zhou and Song." ”
Yao Yuanzhi was one of the sixteen painters of the Qing Dynasty, gong li shu, xingcao, and you shan white depicted figures. The flowers painted do not fall from time to time, interspersed as fruits, but also do not spare the wind, and can compete with Namda and Silla.
Yao Yuanzhi once copied the sixteen statues of Zhao Chengchang Arhat, and the famous artist Huang Zuoyou lamented that he was a modern person who did not let the ancients.

Yao Yuanzhi's "Bottle Orchid Diagram" in September 1826 was collected by the Jiangxi Provincial Museum.
In the summer of 1831, he wrote "Lotus Fan" and in 1838, he wrote "Flower and Bird Fan", both of which are stored in the Palace Museum in Beijing.
Yao Yuanzhi's works include three volumes of "Making Shen Cao", "Bamboo Leaf Pavilion Poetry Manuscript", "Recommended Qing Collection", "Bamboo Leaf Pavilion Miscellaneous Records" eight volumes, "Little Red Goose Pavilion Collection" and so on. Yao Yuan's life is published in the Draft History of the Qing Dynasty, vol. 375, volume 42 of the Biography of the Qing Dynasty, the Continuation of the Biography of the Chancellor VII, and the Great Dictionary of Chinese Writers (Qing Dynasty Volume).
