#Today's Listening Disc #Chen Lin "Chenlin"

Because I revisited the live video of Chen Lin's song "Go Away" before, I saw The Flute Dou Wei, so I thought of taking out the album containing this song to review it.

This album is "chenlin", which can also be said to be Chen Lin's self-titled album, if arranged in the order of "Your Tenderness I Never Understand", "Afraid to Fall in Love with You" and "Woman", this self-titled album can also be regarded as Chen Lin's fourth solo album.

In the first three albums of Chen Lin, "Woman" is really an album with no sense of existence, one is because this album only contains eight songs, in that year, it felt like there was a loss of gap from the scale of the album, and the other was also because of this album, until now there is no CD. At least, I was impressed.

At that personal concert, Chen Lin also introduced the album "Chenlin", which has two key points, one is the fusion of east and west, and the other is that her changes begin.

Saying that this album integrates things is actually far-fetched, at least from the current point of view, it is an album that tries some expansion in the mainstream pop music structure, but for Chen Lin at that time, it is indeed a breakthrough. After all, Chen Lin's previous three albums were still done in accordance with the style of urban women in the Taiwanese record industry at that time, especially the second and third albums, which were too decent.

However, it is true to say that the change began with "chenlin", because it is precisely because of the tone of the album "chenlin", so there is the real transformation success of the "Love is Love" album. Will women, become less grinding love and love, but become more independent and more individual.

The producer of this self-titled album is Ding Xiaowen, a famous Taiwanese lyricist. At that time, Chinese mainland popular music was still in a relatively inferior position in the two sides of the Taiwan Straits and the three places, so in terms of creation and production, it would still be handed over to musicians in Hong Kong or Taiwan to participate in or partially participate in order to make the album appear high-end.

However, from the perspective of musicians, Ding Xiaowen is more like a co-ordinated producer, and the real producer is actually a musician who performs the arrangement.

Seven groups of musicians produced the eleven pieces of the album "chenlin", zhang Yadong, Huang Zhongyue, Guo Liang and Funky Sueji each produced two songs, while Otomo Hikari, Li Jie and the band "Black Panther" each completed one.

This distribution model, the advantage is that the style is diverse, the disadvantage is also in the style of chaos, anyway, multiple groups of musicians as the production of an album, is always a double-edged sword.

As far as the album "Chenlin" is concerned, I personally feel that its production direction is on the side of the mess. And my favorite is the six works produced by Zhang Yadong, Guo Liang and Huang Zhongyue, which may also be related to these three musicians, not only play rock and independent music, but also have experience as mainstream singers, at least in terms of personality and popularity, they can reflect the maximum balance.

"When Love Is Wrong" created and produced by Li Jie was too big for Chen Lin at that time, the ventilation in the main song was somewhat overwhelmed, and the big song style of the chorus was uplifted, and it was not suitable for Chen Lin's tone. "Black Panther" band Li Tong composed, and by Qin Yong and Chen Lin singing together "Birthday Wish", in the album is a bit abrupt, not bad song, but and the overall atmosphere of the album does not match, this song is more suitable for The Bonus Track, is also a song very suitable for singing on the stomach.

Funky Sueyoshi in "Best Friend" and "Love Songs Without Music", in addition to bass Huang Yong, the others are all Japanese musicians, the overall decent, belongs to the original arrangement, there is not much arrangement highlights. The same is true of Mitsuyuki Otomo's "We Are Strangers".

In other works, I have to say that the last song "Lover Danger", Huang Zhongyue's rock music arrangement, is still quite suitable for Chen Lin, and it is not the kind of Full Band rock, but completed by programming and guitar, which not only highlights Chen Lin's voice, but also has a modern sense. But even if I like Lin Qiuli very much, I still have to say that this song lyrics are really written in some ordinary ways.

The most favorite is indeed the four songs compiled by Guo Liang and Zhang Yadong. Needless to say, in "Go Away", Dou Wei's soul-destroying flute, in addition, in fact, the harmony of the southwest region is also a finishing touch, which suddenly makes this song have a different brightness.

The musicians of "Walk Away" include Box Qin Zhang Yadong, Bass Yue Haokun, drummer Zheng Zhaohui, DiZi Dou Wei, and Guo Liang's own keyboard and programming. This is also the team of Dou Wei's "Mountains and Rivers" album + most of the "compass" band.

There are two missing "compass" band members, and one is used in the song "Feelings", that is, the saxophone Yuan Ding. So, hearing the saxophone ringing in this song is really a bit of a "back" meaning. "Feelings" is a work from Huang Zheng, and unlike the arrangement of "Go Away", this song uses a string configuration throughout the song, and there is an atmosphere in lyrical romance. And it is particularly compatible with Chen Lin's voice, which is indeed much better than "When Love Is Wrong".

Later mention Guo Liang, in addition to mentioning Faye Wong's "Hypnosis", please also bring Chen Lin's "Go Away" with you.

Some time ago, he recorded "The Voice of China", and after many years, he reunited with Guo Liang, and recently after a period of silence, he began to devote himself to creation and production, and his aura determined his works, which really will not disappoint.

"Change of Face" and "Don't Be Afraid of Me" are both arrangements by Zhang Yadong, who I remember as the second main hit. "Changing Face" feels like the framework of electric jazz, in which the sound of the seabird call used, as well as the pipa that appears in the second half, are all strokes of God, the atmosphere is beautiful, the details are beautiful, and the direction of harmony and Verve also has an unexpected beauty.

"Don't Be Afraid of Me" is a Chinese classic creative combination such as Xie Mingxun and Li Boiling, and Zhang Yadong's arrangement, coupled with the vocal effect treatment of Chen Lin in the second paragraph, completely put a ballet song at that time, and the composition was both advanced and personalized. The tone of the sitar that appears in it is not known whether it is played by the guitar or the tone of the computer. The last distorted Solo comes from Li Yanliang.

Chen Lin's self-titled album, I know there are two versions, one is the side cover, the tape and the first version of the CD use this. The other is the orange cover on my hand, which also includes a homochromatic VCD, which is a CD+VCD combination, and the CD cover has the words "SUGGESTed retail price of 18 yuan" in the upper right corner. However, the back cover of the CD in both versions is the same.

This cover, really look at want to hit people, and the first version of the cover, in fact, is not much good, look at the next page, the graphic design is Pang Kuan, is the "new pants" of Pang Kuan, really some unexpected, unexpected is not because of Pang Kuan design, but this is not like Pang Kuan's aesthetic, should be done out of the design ...
