In the domestic mobile phone market, vivo mobile phone shipments have ranked first for three consecutive years, but more than 50% of the models are mainly low-end. According to Counterpoint data, vivo has become the No. 1 brand in the domestic mobile phone market in Q1 2024 with a market share of 17.4%. "With strong sales of the Y35 Plus and Y36 in the low-end market and the S18 in the mid-range market, vivo took the top spot in the quarter." Ivan Lam, senior analyst at Counterpoint, explains.

In order to further seize the high-end mobile phone market, vivo released the first Ultra version of the mobile phone on the evening of May 13 - vivo X100 Ultra. At present, the Ultra version has become a symbol of the extreme high-end of mobile phones. Compared with the Pro version, the Ultra version often means that the mobile phone has a higher technology content, and the performance of communication, imaging, and AI is stronger.

Compared with the vivo X100 released in November last year, the vivo X100 Ultra has improved in terms of core processor, communication, imaging, battery life, and AI.

In terms of the main chip, the vivo X100 Ultra is equipped with Qualcomm's third-generation Snapdragon 8 mobile platform with 4nm process technology. The Snapdragon 8 Gen3's Adreno GPU and Hexagon's NPU are 98% faster and 40% more energy efficient than their predecessors.

The Snapdragon 8 Gen can run generative AI on-device, supporting models with more than 10 billion parameters.

In terms of communication, vivo X100 Ultra supports two-way satellite communication and provides a one-key professional rescue mode, which can be connected to the blue sky rescue team with one click; 

In terms of imaging, the vivo X100 Ultra debuts blueprint images. Blueprint Image is vivo's self-developed imaging technology IP, which is another "blue technology" in addition to the four core technologies of blue crystal chip technology stack, blue ocean battery life system, blue heart large model, and self-developed blue river operating system.

In terms of battery life, the vivo X100 Ultra is equipped with a 5500mAh blue ocean battery life system. At the same time, due to the use of semi-solid-state second-generation silicon blue ocean batteries, it can support shooting in extreme scenes of minus 20 degrees. 

In terms of AI, vivo announced that its self-developed blue heart large model has been upgraded to a "self-developed AI multimodal large model". In November last year, vivo released its self-developed large model matrix - BlueLM, which includes five vivo self-developed large models covering three parameter levels: one billion, ten billion, and 100 billion.

According to vivo's official introduction, after upgrading to a multi-modal large model, the blue heart large model can contact, perceive, and understand the world from the most primitive vision, sound, space, etc., making the large model more comprehensive, smarter, and more powerful.

In addition, vivo sees the application of multi-modal large model technology, vivo sees the blue heart upgrade, which can help visually impaired users better "see" the world.

In terms of price, vivo X100 Ultra has three colors: titanium, white moonlight, and space gray, with a starting price of 6499 yuan, and will be officially released on May 28.
