XOG Speed S True Wireless Headphones Light Experience: Mechanical metal design meets retro sound

Speaking of the Elvis presley brand, the first thing that comes to mind should be a variety of retro small speakers.

From the beginning of the Little Prince series to the later Atomic Record Player series, these speakers are not only the main products of Elvis Presley, but also help Elvis Presley, the "audio" label, break out of the circle and create a "retro" tonal sign. Look at the atomic speakers that often appear on the recommended lists of major trend bloggers to know how successful they are.

In addition to this theme of "retro is mainstream", the current Elvis has also made more attempts.

▲ Mechanical Optical Cube

A sub-brand like their XOG is a new brand that abandons retro design and focuses on futuristic mechanics and cyberpunk, such as a bit of "Collection! The mechanical optical sphere Cube speaker in the communication machine style of the Earth Defense Team and the mechanical optical sphere SHELL speaker with a mechanical sense of heaviness are all products of this new brand.

Now, XOG wants to use the mechanical temperament and futurism of the new brand to create a true wireless headset, that is, the newly launched XOG Speed X true wireless headphones.

XOG Speed X's charging case adopts a sandwich design, with a highly metallic silver coating on both sides, and a particle effect similar to the gun metal coating on the surface.

The XOG logo is placed on the top, and at the bottom is an arched structure similar to the shape of the ear tips of the headphones. The lines are sharpened, visually accentuating the overall mechanical feel. The side of the lid is accompanied by a pattern similar to a logo sticker, which looks somewhat similar to the logo design of the bandai RG series earlier.

LED strips are retained on both sides of the headphone case to show the current status of the headphones through different frequencies of flashing: green is more than 60% of the charge, blue is 20-60% of the charge, and red is less than 20%.

The charging case uses a slider-type opening method, and when opened, you can see the spring structure behind the top cover. The opening feel is still quite smooth, but when pushed back, the surface of the charging case is relatively smooth, requiring the fingers to push a little harder to avoid slipping.

While the design of the top cover with a directly exposed spring raises slight concerns about durability, XOG says the slide will withstand more than 30,000 slides.

When you push it open, you can see the headphone slots inside the XOG Speed X.

The headphones are fixed internally through a magnetic structure, and the contact for charging is placed on the ear stem. The grooves in the ear stem part are relatively shallow, and there may be misalignment when placed. However, when the lid is returned, the headphones can be corrected through the shape of the top cover, and the lid can be neatly placed and charged after it is fully covered.

For the headphone part, XOG Speed X uses a semi-in-ear design similar to the first and second generation AirPods. The part tucked into the ear is formed as a whole and does not need to be fixed by replacing the non-slip rubber ring and other objects. Coupled with a lightweight body of 4.2g and a mature mold, it is similar to no sense of wearing.

In addition, XOG Speed X also emphasizes that the headset uses an iChem antibacterial antiviral coating to inhibit a variety of bacterial viruses such as Staphylococcus aureus, Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Coronavirus 229E.

In terms of functional configuration, XOG Speed X is equipped with a chip that uses Bluetooth 5.1, has low-latency support, and can be satisfied with daily watching videos and listening to songs, and basically will not be out of sync with sound and picture.

If you play shooting games like Call of Duty and Peace Elite, the headphones are stable. After switching to game mode, the headset will also enter low-latency mode, making the connection more stable.

In addition, the sound performance of XOG Speed X will change after entering game mode. The problem that the music mode is not compatible with the complex game sound environment has also been alleviated, and the overall listening will be closer to the game's sense of presence.

In terms of sound, XOG Speed X is equipped with a 12mm dynamic unit using composite titanium film, and the unit size is relatively large in a group of pure listening true wireless headphones.

In addition, it supports Elvis Presley, and in addition to being able to listen to in-app radio and podcast programs, it can also switch the equalizer used by the headphones to further choose the sound that suits you.

If I only talk about first impressions, the sound of XOG Speed X gives me a "retro" flavor.

The overall quality of its sound can reach the level of headphones at the same price at this stage, but it is not like most modern headphone products will focus on details and overall analytical performance, nor does it need to present a clear sense of hearing that is stable in various performances.

When I first got started, it sounded a bit like listening to the radio before.

The sound of each part of this headset does not need to be too prominent, and the drum beat gives me a feeling of point to point and end, and to receive when I see it. The elasticity of the drum is also there, but more often than not, it seems to be a kind of sliding back than bouncing back. High-frequency instruments also retain only a certain sense of presence, but the details are not particularly bright, and many times it is a flash of "sigh". The vocals will be slightly free or loose, and occasionally feel scattered on both sides. If you use it to watch live broadcasts, sometimes it will be more dramatic.

Coupled with the layer of fine yarn that is not easy to detect and then hazy and not too obvious, XOG Speed X really sounds a little "retro" in it. It feels to me like a new headset on the radio before, the sound quality has been improved to the current level, and there will be a little bit of radio flavor in it.

If you can understand this state and then brush the current short video with it, it should be quite enjoyable.

In terms of battery life, the official said that XOG Speed X single machine endurance is about 5 hours, with a charging case is 20 hours.

It's not that long for a single-function true wireless headset, but if you only listen to songs occasionally, the frequency of daily calls and games is not high, and you don't need to wear headphones for a long time when working, then it is also good to use.

In terms of price, XOG Speed X starts at 299 yuan, plus a headset cover worth 99 yuan, and has begun to make reservations on the official sales channel of Elvis Presley.
