Arsenal are looking for a striker, which is well known in European football, with rumors and transfer links abounding. They lost Aubameyang in January after a series of disciplinary issues – a breakup that appeared to be in everyone's best interest, with Aubameyang coming out and scoring in Barcelona's 4-0 win over rivals Real Madrid and Arsenal re-emerging without him. However, the change came largely from Lacazette's brilliant performance – a player whose contract is due to expire in the summer , who doesn't seem to fit Altta's focus on dynamism, innovation and a young approach to team building. Espanyol wants to replace Lacazette's departure with new signings, and he is likely to want a striker who fits the image of the Frenchman – a striker who can combine attacks and work well with Erdegaard, but also provide more dynamism, expand the defense, and create more space for Saka, Martinelli and others. With that in mind, there are some players who seem destined to be doomed to the Gunners.
De Thomas
It may seem unlikely, but Arteta reportedly took an interest in Espanyol striker Raúl de Thomas in January. De Thomas is undeniably a genius, and his performance this season has allowed him to be selected for the Spanish national team for the first time at the age of 27 – although he has just retired from the national team due to injury. De Thomas's age indicates that his career took some time to get on track, as he travelled to Spain and Portugal before gaining a foothold in Barcelona. Stylistically, he is similar to Lacazette, but more flexible. His sense of oppression and indifference to defense has been questioned – qualities that we know are what Arteta values most. Given his €70 million termination clause, Arsenal could find better, more cost-effective options elsewhere – for example, Isaac's prices are similar. In addition, de Thomas is always reminiscent of the Lucas Perez of yesteryear.
Luca Jovic
Luca Jovic has been suffering at Real Madrid for years, joining real madrid for 60 million euros in 2019 and has only scored three goals since then. The once-sought after centre-forward is known for his excellent goal scoring rate in Eintracht Frankfurt but has been labeled a "parallel cargo" by the Spanish media and has done little to Madrid this season – he joined the deportees alongside Hazard and Bale as Ancelotti prepares to streamline his squad. Jovic has been linked to Arsenal, most recently in January of this year – but his signing is only a short-term stopgap measure, nothing more. His attitude has been questioned by the Spanish media, and given that Arteta has gone to great lengths to build the morale of his team – including playing out Aubameyang – it seems like a bad idea to sign a somewhat selfish striker.
Dominique Calvert-Lewin
This could be controversial, but many people don't think Dominique Calvert Lewin is Arsenal's best option, although his abilities are obvious. Whether Or not Everton remains in the Premier League this season, the asking price is likely to be astronomical – based solely on his age and nationality. Calvert Lewin is a very direct attacking player who has the ability to knock down opponents with his ability to grab points or extend his defense with his running. But he lacked the skills to match Arsenal's fluid and stylish combination of play, so they had to pass more high balls from inside the penalty area to capitalise on his outstanding aerial abilities and thus weaken Arsenal's ability to fit on the ground. Calvert Lewin is a good signing for Arsenal, but he should be at the bottom of the shortlist, not the main target – Jonathan Davy, the aforementioned Isaac and Osmayne should be prioritized.
