Hunan Daily, New Hunan Client, March 24 (Correspondent Liu Xinshao) "The rise of great powers has a broad and profound impact on the individual 'small self'. Without the rise of China and the strong impetus for cross-cultural exchange under cultural self-confidence, it would be difficult for my academic works or literary works to be published in mainstream foreign publishing institutions, let alone get the attention and sufficient respect of international counterparts. On March 24, Nie Mao received two English hardcover book samples of "Literary Expressions of the Chinese Experience" from Peter Lang, an internationally renowned academic publishing institution, as he said frankly. Two days ago, Nie Mao's long poem "Song of Heroes" was successfully approved for the 2022 Chinese Contemporary Works Translation Project, which will be translated into Mongolian and published abroad.

Nie Mao is a well-known writer, poet and literary critic. He is currently a professor and doctoral supervisor of Central South University, a distinguished professor of "Outstanding Talents" post at Dongguan Institute of Technology, and has published more than 20 (first) works in People's Literature for 8 consecutive years (1992-1998), and won the Hunan Provincial Youth Literature Award, the National Newspaper Supplement Gold Award and the People's Literature Essay Award. He studied abroad in 1999, obtained a doctorate degree in 2003, and was introduced by Central South University in 2004, and was directly promoted from teaching assistant to teaching and discipline leader in the same year. Nie Mao's famous essays "Nine Heavy Rice" and "Defending Rice" have been translated into many languages and published abroad, and his long commentaries for Tang Ying, a well-known children's literature writer in Hunan, have also been translated into Arabic and published abroad. In recent years, Nie Mao has made admirable achievements in both academic and creative work in addition to teaching.

As one of the first selected books in the "Library of Academic Monographs on Philosophy and Social Sciences of Central South University", the book "Literary Expression of Chinese Experience" was published by China Social Science Press in 2018, and was successfully approved by the National Social Science Foundation Chinese Academic Foreign Translation Project in November of that year, which is also the first breakthrough made by Central South University in the Chinese Academic Foreign Translation Project of the National Social Science Foundation. Subsequently, the book was translated into English by Professor Lu Wei, a well-known translator and vice dean of the School of Foreign Chinese of Beijing Language and Culture University, and his team over a period of more than two years.

The main content of the book is: comprehensively focus on and in-depth analysis of The group of Chinese post-70s writers, especially the five young writers of the Literary Xiangjun army and their representative works, make a multi-dimensional interpretation of the writing characteristics, narrative laws and artistic construction of this "generation in the cracks", fully demonstrate the social pain caused by the shaky traditional values, cultural concepts and moral order of China in the transition period and the strong impact and spiritual shock caused by the great changes of the times to the post-70s writers, and explore the ideological roots of the spiritual fate and wandering suffering of the post-70s representative writers. It explains the history of the spiritual growth of post-70s writers under the multiple dilemmas of tradition and modernity, history and reality, material and spiritual, consolidates the academic basis for the world expression of Chinese experience, and highlights the creative pursuit, mental journey and literary self-confidence of post-70s writers.

The book has a broad vision, combines "locality" and "globalization" with a high degree, and is full of a strong cultural atmosphere of Huxiang land, which is a unique and distant cultural voice echoing in modern times, highlighting the importance of China's excellent cultural resources. Nie Mao strives to build a broad and diversified aesthetic field, integrating a broad artistic vision with a regional aesthetic style, condensing the collective experience of a generation through the dialogue between the individual and the times, tradition and modernity, the current practical encounter and the spiritual fission, providing a new perspective for Chinese and foreign readers to understand and grasp China since the reform and opening up and the "Chinese post-70s generation", and filling the research gap of the overall investigation of "post-70s writers and five major generals of the Literary Xiang Army".
