The Sun: The former Chelsea goalkeeper won his first boxing career and helped Drogba practice free kicks

According to the "Sun" newspaper, former Chelsea's third goalkeeper Ricardo Prasell recently won his debut in boxing.

Plassell retired in 2022 due to injury. After that, he began to study at university, where he began to learn jiu-jitsu. Shortly after practicing, he began to compete in MMA competitions, and in 2012, Prasell made his debut in a similar competition, having competed in various competitions in many parts of the world, including in Japan, as well as the UFC Challenger Series. But in a recent match, the 31-year-old Prasell beat 41-year-old Michael Kita in the second round of KSW, opening a new chapter in his boxing career.

Plassell started his football career at Paranan Athletic. In 2009, at the age of 18, Prasell was signed by Chelsea as a substitute for Cech and Hilario. Although Prasell has never played in any official game for Chelsea, he often helps Drogba and Ballack practice with free kicks.

In 2018, Placell said in an interview: "Drogba is simply an incredible player. Although I have not played in official matches with them, I will train with them every day because they will always practice free kicks after their daily training, and my task is to cooperate with their practice. Ballack and Drogba add 30 minutes of free kicks at the end of each training session. They showed a fairly high level when training on free kicks, and they hardly missed a single shot, which was simply incredible. ”

Plassell was eventually loaned by Chelsea to Belgium's RFC Suns. But the hip injury forced him to end his career. After retiring from the army, he returned to Brazil, hoping to keep his body healthy by learning jiu-jitsu.

"When I started learning jiu-jitsu, I didn't have any intention of becoming a professional," Prasell said. The purpose of my study of Jiu-Jitsu at university was to have fun. But after that, some interesting things started to happen. Leaving one field of sport and in another, to reach this level at the moment is a very exciting thing, and my family is proud of me. ”

Plassell has no regrets about his football career. He also admits that his success in boxing may be the best thing in the history of football. In 2019, in an interview with ESPN, Plasell said: "If you ask me if I prefer to play in Brazil or play at the UFC, I would not hesitate to choose the UFC. The sport is a personal competition, it allows me to secrete more adrenaline, I prefer this individual competition mode, I like this kind of competition. Of course, I have nothing to regret in my football career, but I will not trade this time of my football career for the time of my boxing career. ”
