Recently, the Zhaoqing Literary and Art Critics Association and the School of Literature of Zhaoqing University jointly held a seminar on the poetry collection "Before Dusk" by Chen Zhiyun, a famous poet in Guangdong, which was held online in the form of Tencent conference. The seminar was presided over by Li Baorong, professor of the School of Literature of Zhaoqing University and chairman of the Zhaoqing Literary and Art Critics Association, and invited Professor Jiang Tao of the Department of Chinese of Peking University, Professor Zhang Taozhou of the College of Literature of Capital Normal University, Professor Yang Qingxiang of the School of Literature of Chinese University, Professor Lin Gang of the Department of Chinese of Sun Yat-sen University, and Professor Zhang Deming of the College of Literature of Lingnan Normal University to conduct a discussion, and put forward incisive insights on the artistic techniques, spiritual resources, self-appearance, cultural connotations, and special vision of Chen Zhiyun's poetry.

Professor Jiang Tao of the Department of Chinese of Peking University believes that Chen Zhiyun's poetry is a contemplative poetry, its style is relatively unified, poetry is like its people, lyricism is relatively strong, introverted, low-key and calm. Professor Zhang Taozhou of the College of Literature of Capital Normal University believes that in a certain sense, Chen Zhiyun can be called "the son of the 1980s", his poetry creation is rooted in the 1980s, he draws nutrition from the 1980s, this nutrition nourishes and enriches him, has always promoted his creation, and the idealism, passionism, feeling style, humanistic atmosphere, etc. in the 1980s have a relatively great influence on his poetry creation. Professor Lin Gang of the Department of Chinese of Sun Yat-sen University found that Chen Zhiyun had a special vision, reading Chen Zhiyun's poems had the feeling of reading the poetry of ancient poets, although Chen Zhiyun was amateur writing, his poetry was deeply intertwined in his life, and its advantage was "to be inside and out of it". Secondly, Chen Zhiyun's poetry on historical themes has a modern perspective. The imagery of his poetry, the expression of wanting to say and stopping, the truth is implied and revealed in his poetry, and what he provides is a special experience, which is rare.

Professor Zhang Deming of the Faculty of Letters of Lingnan Normal University believes that Chen Zhiyun's poetry has four major pursuits. First, the pursuit of the purity of poetry creation. Chen Zhiyun has a persistent pursuit of pure poetry writing, his creation of his own identity aside, he entered the poetry creation, he entered another more purely personal world, and the trend of poetry that pays more attention to daily life writing does not coincide, and thus keeps his personality, is a kind of life illusion writing, giving poetry a pure spiritual force, his poetry is not a simple recording of ordinary life, but with metaphysical speculation of the heart and soul torture. Although this kind of writing is not completely in line with the current popular daily life writing, it is more difficult to create and artistic texture, and it also clearly highlights the poet's own personality and aesthetic uniqueness. Second, the pursuit of exquisite beauty in language and structure. His poems are extremely exquisite and simple in language, and the choice of words and the use of imagery are quite sophisticated and extremely expressive. The structural settings of many of Chen Zhiyun's poems are also extremely exquisite, thus realizing the harmonious unity of content and form, and having outstanding artistic expression. Third, the pursuit of idealistic sentiments. Chen Zhiyun's poems often flash the spiritual light of the idealism of the 1980s, bringing people enlightenment and spiritual sublimation. Fourth, the pursuit of poetic presentation of complexity and richness. Chen Zhiyun's poetry is very rich in connotation, the language is very restrained, the economy and connotation are rich and profound, constitute a great contrast, it can be said that Chen Zhiyun's poetry effectively inherits the classical poetic tradition of "implicit implication", his poetry is often exquisite and rich in rhyme, and the poetry appears complex and rich. This complex and rich poetic characteristics make it have an extremely large space for literary interpretation. To a certain extent, Chen Zhiyun's poetry has the possibility of poetics that can be constantly interpreted and excavated intricately. Zhang Deming concluded that these "four major pursuits" can be summarized as "two major consciousnesses", one is the prominent consciousness of life, facing the individual and facing the self; at the same time, there is a deep sense of history, facing the world and facing mankind.

Li Baorong, a professor at the School of Letters at Zhaoqing University, pointed out that Chen Zhiyun's poetry can be summed up in one word as "Qingjun". A closer look at the style of his poetry can be summarized as refinement, speculation, and coldness. The so-called "exquisite", on the one hand, mainly refers to the fact that the life involved in Chen Zhiyun's poetry is not broad enough, on the other hand, it is its tempering of language; the so-called "speculation" refers to Chen Zhiyun's poetry with a certain degree of speculation or philosophical rationality, thinking about complex relationships, and refusing to understand the world life at a single simple level; the so-called "cold" refers to chen Zhiyun's poetry, which often shows a feeling of coldness, bending and rupture. In short, Chen Zhiyun's poetry, with its superficial "Qing" of not living widely and refining its language, enters a deeper level of "Jun", that is, the world that contains symbolism, speculation and coldness. In this sense, Chen Zhiyun's poetry is Chen Zhiyun's personality, after all, in the face of self-writing poetry, the ultimate face is his own personality and thoughts, he distances himself from the real world, but inadvertently in the way of writing himself, refracting the real world, refracting all aspects of the real world to him. Therefore, the "refinement" of his poetry is actually an implosion of refinement, and such "implosion" is due to the symbolism, speculation and coldness of his poetry.
