Tanhua Yi Flower Arrangement Festival is a provincial intangible cultural heritage, which was rated as one of the "World's 100 Most Distinctive Ethnic Festivals" by the Chinese Ethnology Research Association and the International Festival Association in 2012, and in 2013, it was rated as the most distinctive tourism festival in Yunnan Province.

At that time, there was an extremely cruel tuguan in Tanhua Mountain, who built a "Tianxian Garden" on the top of a high mountain, and the young girl was sent to the "Tianxian Garden" and ravaged. In order to save the victimized sisters, the beautiful and kind Miyilu picked a white flower containing severe poison and put it on her head, and resolutely entered the "Heavenly Immortal Garden" alone, and finally she and the Tuguan died together and sacrificed her young life. Chao Lieruo returned from hunting, learned that Miyilu had entered the "Heavenly Immortal Garden", and had been poisoned, he was so sad that he cried bitterly, he cried and dried his tears, and blood flowed, and the blood stained the lantana red, and from then on, there were blood-red lantana flowers on Mount Tanhua, and the Yi name of the lantana was called "Miyilu" from then on.
In order to commemorate this good girl who dedicated herself to eliminating violence, every eighth day of the first month of the second lunar month, the local people will pick bright red lantana flowers, inserted on the doors of houses, tied to the horns of cattle and sheep, people will plant flowers on their heads, dressed in costumes, sing and dance on the Thousand Berlin Lawn, raise a glass to cheer, wish together, showing everyone's infinite yearning for a better life, and this ancient custom, passed down from generation to generation, after the change of the times, has finally formed a beautiful scenery in the national cultural festival.
