Before the digital blogger @ Ice Universe broke the news, Xiaomi Mi 12 Ultra may come with a circular camera module. Not only are the camera modules being changed for this year's model, but the phone will also introduce a new Sony IMX 8xx camera sensor. Recall that the Xiaomi Mi 11 Ultra uses Samsung ISOCELL sensors.

In addition, the whistleblower also shared several images of the Xiaomi Mi 12 Ultra with a black and white color, confirming the back design of the phone. As of now, there are rumors that the device will come with a triple camera setup, including a 50MP main camera, a 48MP 5x telephoto lens, and a 48MP ultra-wide camera.

However, there is no information on when Xiaomi plans to launch the 12 Ultra. It will be interesting to see what changes the new Sony IMX8 series sensors will bring to the camera quality of the phone, and whether Xiaomi will reuse Samsung sensors in the future. As a reminder, Samsung itself is using Sony sensors on its new Galaxy S22 Ultra instead of the self-developed sensors on the Galaxy S21 Ultra.
