【Reminder】Yanbian Prefecture Emergency Management Bureau reminds residents to safely use disinfection supplies such as alcohol and 84 disinfectant

The Yanbian Prefecture Emergency Management Bureau reminds residents to safely use disinfection supplies such as alcohol and 84 disinfectant

Recently, the general public has used disinfection products such as 75% ethanol, chlorine-containing disinfectants, and peracetic acid more frequently. However, it is worth being vigilant that such disinfection products have flammable, toxic, corrosive and other dangerous characteristics, if used improperly, it is very easy to cause fire, poisoning, burns and other safety accidents. In order to regulate the safe use of disinfection products at home, the Yanbian Prefecture Emergency Management Bureau has made the following tips:

First, do not hoard alcohol in large quantities at home

Ethanol is commonly known as alcohol, at room temperature and pressure is a flammable, volatile colorless transparent liquid, alcohol vapor and air can form an explosive mixture, in case of open flame, high heat energy caused by explosive combustion. Alcohol vapor is heavier than air, can spread to a farther place at a lower place, and will rekindle in the fire source. The explosion limit of alcohol in the air is 3.3%-19%, when the alcohol content in the air reaches more than 3.3%, it will flash out when it encounters a fire source; when it reaches 19%, the temperature is equal to or greater than 13 ° C, and it will flash when it encounters a fire source.

Use safety tips:

1. Pay attention to ventilation. When using alcohol indoors, it is necessary to ensure good ventilation, and cloth cleaning tools such as used towels should be stored in a closed place after use with a large amount of clean water, or put in a ventilated place to dry.

2. Proper use. Completely remove flammable and combustible substances around the place of use before use, and do not go near heat sources and avoid open flames when using. Before disinfecting the surface of the appliance, the power should be turned off first, and then carried out after the appliance has cooled. If you wipe the kitchen stove with alcohol, turn off the fire source first, so as not to cause deflagration caused by alcohol volatilization. After each dose of alcohol, the lid of the container must be closed immediately and it is strictly forbidden to leave it open.

3. Store in moderation. Alcohol is a flammable and volatile liquid, residents in the home with alcohol disinfection, it is recommended to buy civilian small packages of medical alcohol, a single bottle of packaging should not exceed 500 ml, never hoard alcohol at home, so as not to leave a safety hazard.

4. Safe storage. Alcohol containers should preferably be stored in glass or special plastic packaging and must have a reliable seal, and the use of uncovered containers is strictly prohibited. When storing the remaining alcohol, special attention should be paid to the lid to avoid volatilization, to avoid light and store in a cool place, not to be placed on the balcony, stove, heating and other heat source environment.

5. Strengthen education. For families with young children, alcohol should be placed out of reach of small children to avoid accidental consumption. For older children, parents can explain the characteristics of alcohol to their children, teach children not to play with alcohol, and not to use fire to ignite.

6. Emergency disposal. If alcohol is spilled, it should be wiped and disposed of in time. Accidental ignition of alcohol can be extinguished by dry powder fire extinguishers, carbon dioxide fire extinguishers, etc., and small areas of fire can also be covered with wet towels and wet clothing to extinguish the fire. If burned outdoors, it can be covered with sand.

Second, 84 disinfectant and other chlorine-containing disinfectants can not be mixed with other substances

Chlorine-containing disinfectants are disinfectants that are dissolved in water to produce hypochlorous acid with microbial activity. Such disinfectants include inorganic chlorine compounds (such as 84 disinfectant, calcium hypochlorite, trisodium chloride phosphate, etc.), organochlorine compounds (such as sodium dichloroisocyanurate, trichloroisocyanuric acid, ammonium chloride, etc.). Chlorine-containing disinfectants have certain oxidation, corrosiveness and sensitization, excessive or long-term contact may cause burns to the human body, mixed with other substances, there may be chemical reactions causing poisoning.

1. Take protection. Chlorine-containing disinfectants are generally very irritating or corrosive, if the direct contact with the human body for a long time, there is a greater irritation to the human skin and mucous membranes, and rubber gloves must be worn when blending and using.

2. Proper use. Chlorine-containing disinfectants are strictly forbidden to be mixed with other disinfectant or cleaning products. For example, 84 disinfectant is mixed with toilet cleaner, which will produce toxic gases that irritate the human throat, respiratory tract and lungs and cause poisoning.

3. Standardize the use. The bleaching effect and corrosiveness of chlorine-containing disinfectants are generally strong, it is strictly forbidden to contact with acidic substances, it is best not to use for disinfection of clothing, the concentration must be low when it must be used, and the soaking time should not be too long.

4. Safe storage. Chlorine disinfectants should be stored in a cool, ventilated place, away from fire, heat sources, avoid direct sunlight, and should be placed in places that are out of reach of children to avoid accidental taking.

5. Emergency disposal. When the skin is contaminated with the chlorine disinfectant stock solution, it must be rinsed immediately with a large amount of flowing water, and the eye splash with the chlorine disinfectant should be rinsed continuously with water or normal saline, and quickly sent to the hospital for treatment. Those who mistakenly take it can immediately be fed milk, egg whites, etc. to protect the gastric mucosa and reduce the damage, and then induce vomiting, and immediately sent to the hospital for treatment.

Third, the use of peracetic acid disinfection to maintain indoor ventilation for 15 minutes before entering

Peracetic acid disinfectant is a strong oxidant, colorless liquid, has a strong pungent odor, is acidic and corrosive, and must be diluted after use. Peracetic acid can be decomposed into acetic acid, oxygen, and will react violently in contact with reducing agents, organic matter, etc., and there is a risk of combustion and explosion.

1. Take protection. It should be diluted in strict accordance with the concentration of the purchased peracetic acid disinfectant and the instructions for use, and rubber gloves must be worn when diluting and using, and the operation should be handled gently to avoid violent shaking and prevent splashing into the eyes, skin and clothing.

2. Proper use. Peracetic acid disinfectant has a certain degree of toxicity, and the concentration should not be too high when spraying and disinfecting indoors, so as not to endanger the human body. During indoor fumigation, personnel should evacuate the site, and personnel can enter after 15 minutes of indoor ventilation after fumigation is completed. Peracetic acid is corrosive to metals and cannot be used to disinfect metal items.

3. Safe storage. Peracetic acid disinfectant should be stored in a cool, ventilated place, away from fire, heat sources, avoid direct sunlight, and should be placed in places that children cannot touch to avoid accidental taking.

4. Emergency disposal. When the skin is contaminated with the original solution of peracetic acid disinfectant, it must be rinsed immediately with a large amount of flowing water, and when the eye is splashed with peracetic acid disinfectant, it should be continuously rinsed with water or normal saline, and quickly sent to the hospital for treatment.
