This song "Ink Drama" may only be written by Luo Xiaoci.
She is a guzheng player and the head of the Shanghai Chinese Orchestra. Due to her family's academic origins, she learned to write earlier than guzheng. Immersed in both arts, some wonderful chemical reactions occur. Enjoying Yan Zhenqing's "Sacrifice Nephew Manuscript" and Wang Xizhi's "Orchid Pavilion Collection Sequence", she can always see the change of melody and rhythm between dry ink and flying white.
On the afternoon of February 25th, at the scene of the second season of "Everyone Says" jointly sponsored by the National Foreign Cultural Exchange Research Base, the Propaganda Department of the Minhang District Cpc Committee of the Communist Party of China, and the Shanghai International Cultural Society, Lu Shasha, a young guzheng player of the Shanghai Chinese Orchestra, played Luo Xiaoci's "Ink Opera", showing the weather of Chinese calligraphy on the strings. Luo Xiaoci also told the audience the story behind "Ink Drama".
Literati tradition and contemporary aesthetics
"At the beginning, a quaint, solemn theme appeared in the bass area, reminiscent of the seal in Chinese calligraphy. To the treble area, like a line of letters. In my imagination, this calligrapher must be writing with his wrist hanging, and the breath is flowing and flexible. Then he would drink a little wine, a little drunk, and a little hesitant. There is a bit of a wild grass, a very wild and uninhibited release. Finally, back to the quaint, long-standing theme. Luo Xiaoci said.
Sometimes, Lu Sasha presses the strings with her left hand and plucks the strings with her right hand. The plucking of the strings is over, and the left hand continues the afterglow. "This is no longer a physical sound, the twist of this sound exists in your imagination, and it is similar to the 'pen break continuously' in calligraphy." Luo Xiaoci said.
"Ink Drama" is the first work created by Luo Xiaoci. After graduating from college, she deeply felt that there were too few guzheng performance works, and she did not want to "turn in circles" in several songs such as "Fishing Boat Singing Evening" and "Battle Typhoon" forever, so she turned her vision to the field of creation.
"I found that there were some creative seeds that flashed and flew away, and some that appeared from time to time, and after a while it was still there, continuing to attract me. So little by little, there was "Ink Drama". I prefer literati music with a bookish atmosphere and style, but in the later period, traditional literati music has entered a narrow alley of self-congratulation and too high. Today, we cannot ignore the aesthetic changes and needs of contemporary people."
"Ink Opera" was followed by "Like a Dream Order", "Rhythm", and "Bloom", and Luo Xiaoci attributed his creation to "New Literati Music". Its essence is to seek the contemporary transformation of traditional Chinese culture in the form of music and realize the contemporary rebirth of traditional folk music. This coincides with the purpose of the Shanghai Chinese Orchestra "national music, contemporary temperament, international expression".
Life is also a source of inspiration for Luo Xiaoci, and after becoming a mother, she became softer. "For an artist, the most important thing in art is intuition, a person's emotions have many dimensions, sour, sweet and bitter, from the pregnancy of October, to watching the child grow up year by year, that emotional experience is too important for the artist." 」
Elegance is unpretentious and not in a hurry
From performer to creator, from artist to orchestra manager, Luo Xiaoci has undergone one transformation after another. "Being an artist is actually happy, you only need to manage the twenty-one strings, just compete with yourself." 」 But as a leader of the orchestra, there is still a lot to be done.
One of them is how to give young people a stage so that they can shine in their best years. "I often reflect on what I can do for them, whether I have wasted their time, whether I have listened to their needs, whether I have wasted their youth. The youth of art is very precious, especially stage art, it is often fleeting. ”
But the matter is urgent. She believes that we must respect the law of artistic creation and the law of talent training, build a good ecological environment, and release the most positive energy of people.
From "Sea Folk Music", "Shanghai Odyssey Bund Story" to "Common Home", the brand effect of Haipai Folk Music is constantly expanding. At the beginning of 2018, the concert version of "Folk Music on the Sea" went to the United Kingdom, France, Belgium, Germany and other countries, and carried out a nearly 20-day tour of four countries and eight cities in Europe's first-class concert halls, which touched audiences from all over the world, and even some audiences chased from the first stop to the last stop.
Last year, the newly upgraded resident version of "Folk Music on the Sea" was performed 23 times in one go at the Shanghai Concert Hall. Eight original works with diverse styles have been recreated, injecting a sense of science and technology and a sense of the future, breaking the imagination of many people for folk music, and many young people spontaneously "two brushes" and "three brushes". In March this year, the residency of "Folk Music on the Sea" will continue.
"The core of Haipai folk music is in line with the urban spirit of Shanghai, it is innovative, diverse, delicate and elegant, and can withstand repeated appreciation and repeated taste." Luo Xiaoci said. In her opinion, elegance is not pretentious and not in a hurry.
"Haipai is determined and not in a hurry, which is quite important." National music has thousands of years of accumulation, everyone should appreciate it, enjoy it, can not be in a hurry. Sometimes it doesn't matter if you don't understand it, you may feel it at a different time and a different location. I want the audience to stop from the noise of everyday life and revisit our history and traditions in music. ”
