Anyang is a small city in the north.
This small city is located in northern Henan, southern Hebei, bordering Hebei Province, Shanxi Province, Northern Henan and Southern Hebei Yangshao culture found earlier, the cultural outlook is more complex, compared with the Central Plains Yangshao culture, has its own more prominent characteristics.
In the Anyang domain, there are two types of Yangshao culture that are different from other regions, namely the Hougang type and the Dasikong type. These two Yangshao cultural types are named after Hougang and Dasikong Village in the northern suburbs of Anyang City.
Judging from the cultural relics that have been excavated today, it is difficult to determine the relationship between the Hougang type and the Dasikong type and the succession of other Yangshao cultural types, and the successive inheritance relationship between these two Yangshao cultural types that are not far apart has not yet been determined.

The "imagination" of history
Sikong, in ancient times, was an official position, which was set up by Emperor Shaohao when he was in charge of water conservancy, civil engineering and transportation engineering construction. According to legend, during the reign of Emperor Yao, Dayu served as Sikong. During the Zhou Dynasty, Sikong was listed as one of the Six Qings, and during the Sui and Tang Dynasties, it was commonly known as the Gongbu Shangshu as the Great Sikong.
Across the Huan River from the ruins of the Jongmyo Temple of the Yin Ruins Palace in Anyang, there are two small villages named "Sikong", namely Dasikong Village and Xiaosikong Village, which is said to be named after the Sikong clan once lived in this village.
In today's Dasikong village, posterity found Yangshao cultural sites, the pottery excavated from the site is mainly gray pottery, followed by red pottery, black pottery is very rare, faience pottery pattern is more concise, there are more than 20 kinds of S-shaped patterns, X-shaped patterns, water ripples, concentric circle patterns, hook patterns, spiral patterns, etc., these patterns have different characteristics from other Yangshao cultural sites, therefore, archaeologists named it the Great Sikong type - one of the Yangshao cultural types in northern Henan.
Some scholars believe that the Yangshao culture of the Great Sikong type is a relic of Xuanyu.
Nowadays, people generally regard Xuan You as the ancestor of the Southern Miao Barbarians, and the King of the Nine Dawns. However, in prehistoric times, the Jiuli were a prehistoric indigenous tribe in the Central Plains, a tribe that operated at the junction of present-day Shandong, Hebei, and Henan provinces.
As for the relationship between Xuanyu and the Great Sikong Site, it may be possible to clarify the context from the continuation of culture.
Scholars generally believe that Xuanyu comes from the Dawenkou culture. Dawenkou culture dates back about 6,000 years, and the region is distributed in the three provinces of Henan, Anhui and Suzhou, which is the predecessor of Longshan culture. Tracing the formation of Dawenkou culture, the existence of Pei Ligang culture can be seen everywhere.
Pei Ligang culture predates Yangshao culture, between 9000 and 7000 years ago, there was Pei Ligang culture in central Henan, around 7000 years ago, the Pei Ligang culture in the Central Plains suddenly declined or even disappeared, and there was no obvious cultural continuation after that. In present-day Lunan and northern Jiangsu, the Pei LiGang cultural ethnic group appeared, which should be a large-scale migration of the Pei Li Gang people in the Central Plains, resulting in the decline of the Pei Li Gang culture in the Central Plains. Among them, the people who migrated to the lunan and northern Jiangsu regions merged with the local culture, resulting in the later Dawenkou culture.
Elements of the decline of Pei Ligang culture can be seen in the Dasikong type, which is due to the fact that during the original large-scale migration, some Pei Ligang people chose to stay in the Central Plains and live with the Yangshao ethnic group that migrated eastward and integrate with each other.
It can be seen that the Dasikong type and the Dawenkou culture both have ancestral relations with the Pei Ligang culture, so there is also reasonable evidence that the ruins of Dasikong Village are the ruins of Xuanyou.
Of course, this is just a reasonable speculation.

Xipei Village in Anyang City is a small village with a population of only about 600 people, and there are Yangshao cultural sites in the west of the village, adjacent to the G341 line in the east, and the Chadian River meanders through the south side of the village, with a beautiful environment.
In 2019, Xipei Village was identified as a provincial-level rural revitalization pilot village. After that, in order to fully promote the rural revitalization project, the project of "building a beautiful Xipei Town" in Xipei Village was included in the government's key construction projects.
Xipei Town takes the road of driving rural revitalization with Yangshao culture. Relying on the river system of the tea shop, excavating the cultural connotation of Yangshao, and entrusting the planning and design team, the project carried out high-standard planning for the village. It is planned to build Xipei Village into a characteristic town of Yangshao cultural heritage that integrates suburban leisure, homestay catering, farming culture experience, etc.
Today, xipei town has been initially built.
At the entrance of the village, the first thing that catches the eye is the four big characters of "Xipei Town", the village houses are neatly arranged, the pink wall is dewa, and the tea shop river runs through the village, which has the feeling of Jiangnan water town.
The village deeply excavated the connotation of Yangshao culture, transformed the old houses that had been uninhabited for a long time, built cultural venues such as the Rural Memory Hall and the Faience Experience Hall, and carefully created the "five vertical and four horizontal" blocks such as the Faience Art Street, the Historical and Cultural Street, and the Yangshao Cultural Street.
The ancestors who lived in a distant time and space created a splendid Yangshao culture, which originated from the Yellow River in the mountains of the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau and nurtured today's Central Plains with its motherly heart.
Culture is vital, it continues to burst out new brilliance in the inheritance of generations, and constantly obtains "new life" in one new time and space.
Yangshao culture witnesses the happiness of the people living in this Central Plains today, and further promotes the steady rejuvenation of this Central Plains.
