Diabetes forbidden to eat candy and cakes? wrong! Eat sweets like this, and your blood sugar won't rise

1. Judgment question: Diabetics are forbidden to eat sweets such as candy and cake

mistake.

Sweets such as candy, pies, and cakes used to be off-limits for diabetics, but they are no longer.

In fact, studies have shown that starches such as potatoes and white bread can affect blood sugar levels like sugar, sometimes causing dangerous spikes in blood sugar.

Most vegetables or whole grains contain carbohydrates that don't have much of an impact on blood sugar.

Counting the total amount of carbohydrates and choosing the healthiest carbohydrates is more important than banning sugars altogether. It's okay to eat a little sweet tooth.

For example, if you are attending a wedding, you can eat a small piece of cake (a very small piece) and replace it with another starchy carbohydrate (such as a small potato or a piece of bread) that you may eat.

For diabetics who are very fond of sweets, desserts, sweets and carbonated drinks made with sugar substitutes are available.

Many human sweeteners contain no carbohydrates or calories, so they don't need to be counted in meal plans.

In addition, other carbohydrates made using sugar substitutes absorb more slowly in the bloodstream than sugar, so they don't pose a threat to blood sugar levels.

Once you don't eat sugar and sweeteners for weeks, your body and taste buds adjust and you won't crave such sweet foods anymore.

Fruits and other natural foods taste sweeter and bring more satisfaction.

2. Judgment question: Drinking a glass of wine at dinner is no problem for diabetics

That's right.

Alcohol is allowed within certain limits, but there are exceptions, and alcohol should not be consumed if blood glucose levels are uncontrolled or there is nerve damage due to diabetes.

For drinkers, keep a moderate amount, with a maximum of 1 serving of alcohol per day for women and a maximum of 2 servings per day for men.

Keep in mind that a serving of alcohol means:

150 ml wine.

or 350 ml beer.

or 45 ml of spirits.

3. Judgment question: Fiber-rich foods such as beans can help lower blood sugar levels

A high-fiber diet (>50 g/day) lowers blood sugar levels. What is the mechanism? The body digests fiber-rich foods more slowly, which means that glucose (a sugar) is gradually absorbed by the blood, helping to control blood sugar levels.

To achieve this effect, the amount of fiber in the diet must be very high.

A high-fiber diet has also been shown to help lower cholesterol levels, lose weight, increase satiety, and maintain regular bowel movements.

Fiber-rich foods include fresh fruits and vegetables, whole-grain bread and crackers, and gluten grains.

Check the carbohydrate and sugar content on food labels before eating, as many high-fiber foods have added sugar.

4. Judgment question: High-protein diet is a risk for some diabetic patients

For people with concomitant kidney problems, a high-protein diet can cause certain problems.

Protein overdose means that for people with kidney problems, the American Diabetes Society (ADA) recommends 15% to 20% of calories from protein.

Regular consumption of proteins such as beans, fish, or chicken instead of fatty chunks is good for the heart.

For those who want to lose weight, they should eat a balanced diet and reduce their daily calorie intake by 500 calories, which should lose 10% of their body weight without increasing the risk of kidney disease.
