The figure skating pair skating competition is divided into two stages: short program and free skating. In the short program competition held the previous day, the "Onion Barrel Combination" scored 84.41 points, once again breaking the world record for short program scores they set at the figure skating team event at the Beijing Winter Olympics.
In tonight's free skating competition, Sui Wenjing/Han Cong restarted the "Golden Bridge on the River of Sorrows", which they won at the World Championships four years ago, and adapted it to add the world's highest difficulty in pair skating to "twist around". In the end, they played the whole set of actions to the fullest, won the unanimous approval of the judges, and got a season-high 155.47 points, with a total score of 239.88 points to win the gold medal.
