At the Beijing Winter Olympics, in addition to the design of the torch "flying" and the way the torch is lit, the design of the tinder lamp also exudes a full chinese charm.

On February 2, the olympic forest park and the launching ceremony of the Beijing Winter Olympic Torch Relay kicked off. Facing the rising sun, 3 tinder guards held tinder lights, torches and fuse sticks respectively, and 1 tinder guard drew fire from the tinder lamp and lit the tinder table. The torch lit by Luo Zhihuan, the first torchbearer and the first world speed skating champion in the mainland, began to pass the torch under the gaze of the whole audience.

This is the wonderful appearance of the tinder lamp at the torch relay ceremony, and its Chinese-style shape has attracted many eyes.

The creativity of the Tinder lantern for the Beijing Winter Olympics originated from the Changxin Palace lamp of the Western Han Dynasty, which is known as the "first lamp in China". According to Rao Jie, project leader of the torch design team of the Beijing Winter Olympic Games, the design concept of tinder lamps is to take the meaning of "long faith", symbolize the eternal light, and express everyone's belief in guarding the Olympic fire. The square nesting on the shape of the tinder lamp symbolizes the round place of the sky, and the contrast between the silver metallic luster and the crystal clear glass expresses the perfect fit between the excellent traditional culture of the Chinese nation and the Olympic spirit.

In 1968, the Changxin Palace lamp of the Western Han Dynasty was excavated from the tomb of Dou Xuan, the wife of Liu Sheng, the King of Zhongshan Jing in Baoding City, Hebei Province, and was named after the inscription "Changxin Shang Bath" at the bottom of the lamp holder. The shape of the Changxin Palace lamp is an elegant palace girl kneeling to hold the lamp, this palace lady holds a lamp plate in her left hand, the center of the lamp plate has a wick, the right arm is held high, and the hanging cuff tube becomes a lampshade. According to Fan Dewei, a research librarian at the Hebei Museum, the lamp plate is attached with a short handle that can be rotated back and forth, and the two curved plates on the lamp plate can also be pushed to open and close, which can not only block the wind but also adjust the brightness of the light and the direction of illumination.

"The brilliance of Changxin Palace Lamp is its environmental protection concept." Fan Dewei said that the Changxin Palace lamp cleverly connects the cuff of the palace maid with the body to form a flue, when the lamp candle is lit, the soot slowly enters the body along the cuff of the palace girl, and the body of the palace girl is hollow, which can absorb and exhaust smoke and keep the room clean. Today, this 2,000-year-old environmental light has once again lit up the Beijing Winter Olympics.
