The Tang Dynasty poet Gu Quan lived in Luoyang when he was young, and one day he was hanging out with a friend, and when he walked to the inlet of the Shangyang Palace where the palace maid lived, he accidentally caught a glimpse of a red leaf that seemed to have handwriting on the river, picked it up and looked at it, and it was written in Juanxiu's font:
"
Once in the deep palace,
Spring is not seen every year.
Talk about a leaf,
Send with a lover.
Gu Quan secretly thought to himself, this should be a long-lived deep palace, lonely and boring palace girl throwing a drifting bottle to find a pen pal. Caizi encountered this situation, of course, to reply to one, so he turned the red leaf over and wrote on the back:
Sorrowful to see the warbler crying willow flying,
When the Shangyang Palace lady cut off her intestines.
Jun En can't help but flow east,
Who is the inscription poem on the leaf sent to?
Then Gu Quan walked to the upper waterway of the Shangyang Palace, put the red leaf down, and watched it slowly drift into the palace. After he finished this interesting thing, he forgot about it.
A few days later, Gu Quan was quietly staying at home to study, when the friend suddenly rushed in with a red leaf in his hand and shouted all the way: "Brother Gu, come and see what this is!" I was just passing outside the Shangyang Palace, but I happened to pick up a leaf inscribed with a poem! ”
Gu Quan immediately jumped up and snatched the red leaf from his friend's hand, only to see that there were four poems inscribed on it, and the beautiful font was exactly the same as the handwriting on the red leaf a few days ago:
A leaf inscription poem out of the forbidden city,
Who pays and is unique.
Since the middle of the wave,
Ripples take the wind to take the next line.
I don't know if this palace girl is responsible for fetching water every day, but that day she actually received a "drifting bottle" thrown back by Gu Quan. The occurrence of such a small probability event can only be called a "match made in heaven". Since then, Gu Quan and this palace girl have often gone to the upper and lower sewers to receive mail, thus establishing a stable relationship of water lover pen pals. But both parties know that this is a relationship with no tomorrow.
Soon after, the Anshi Rebellion broke out and Luoyang fell, which was a tragic event for many poets, but an opportunity for Gu Quan. Taking advantage of the chaos, he broke into the Shangyang Palace alone, found the palace girl, and successfully completed the Hollywood-style escape. Then the two happily married each other, and the white head grew old.
Since then, the brothers and sisters have become legends, which have been imitated and never surpassed. The "Autumn Leaf Poetry" (or "Shimoike Anecdote") has also become a famous allusion, and the red leaf is regarded as a symbol of unwavering love.
Gu Guan later became a daimyō and is said to have lived for more than ninety years. When he was in his seventies, the young poet Bai Juyi relied on his promotion to ascend to the center of the Tang poetry stage.
