Adapted from the 1982 teenage book of the same name by British writer Michael Morpgo, the film "War Horse" has been adapted into stage plays and radio plays from the perspective of a horse.
In the early years, Morpgo also wanted to put it on the screen, but he took it upon himself to spend five years working on the script, and finally admitted that he had failed.
Years later, it was handed over to Spielberg, and the script was revised many times, changing the perspective from the horse to the person, using a third-person narrative, and becoming a very popular story structure.
Spielberg directed himself and selected British actor Jerry Milvin to perform.
The steady Spielberg still chooses to praise the mainstream values, and "War Horse" describes a horse named Joey in the English countryside, who meets Albert, the little master who loves him in his early childhood, and the people and horses share hardships and establish a friendship of mutual understanding and pity.
But the outbreak of the First World War, Joey was sold to the cavalry unit, went to France into the war zone, in this turbulent process, the ugliness of the war and the preciousness of human nature are at a glance, although Joey has faced several life and death junctures, but along the way also encountered many people to love and pay for it, at the same time Joey also showed strong vitality and courage, but also inspired people who experienced the pain of war.
Albert did not forget Joey, he joined the army to the battlefield only because he wanted to find Joey, and the two finally reunited miraculously. In the film, Albert and Joey seem to be a natural couple, industrious, brave, kind and upright, full of all kinds of positive energy.
"War Horse" is not Spielberg's top work, but the film's skillful use of technique can even be used as a shooting textbook.
