Jankos: I hate the single wind girl, this routine is harmful to ranking

A new era of G2 is just around the corner, with the new line-up currently ranking second in LEC with an 8-3 record, and one of the only remaining veteran members of the team is the legendary Tatsuno Jankos.

Jankos: I hate the single wind girl, this routine is harmful to ranking

Jankos is very optimistic about the team and is happy with the progress they have made. INVEN had the opportunity to talk to Jankos and discuss his thoughts on G2, the impact of the Wind Girl's journey on the road to the game, and his thoughts on Ost Ark.

In a recent interview, you said you thought about different things you wanted to do this year compared to 2021 in the offseason, and what different things would you like to do?

Jankos: I just want to be more united as a team----- if that makes sense. I think it was hard for us to do things together in the spring races last year, but this year it feels like we're doing a lot of things together, we're all on the same pace and we're having a lot of fun.

We're very open to suggestions for heroes and willing to try almost any game style, so I'm really excited to find these five players who are willing to put aside their egos and really focus on the right way to play. How do we win? What's the best way to play for us? What's the best way to play the game at the moment?

Caps and I talked about the perspective of the last offseason, what do you think?

Jankos: Of course I was disappointed that we didn't make it to the World. Given our success in 2019 and 2020, I think it's been a very big blow, it's a huge failure----- especially people have high expectations of us.

I don't mind what to expect, but I do mind --- have such a talented squad but can't make it to the World Championship. I think all five of our players are good, but they just can't work like a whole. That's what happens sometimes.

Despite our previous successes, perhaps that year was not yet the one we wanted to be. I hope everyone on the different lists grows even more right now. But personally I'm very frustrated and I'm looking forward to next year, because I know I want to keep playing for at least a year, so I don't want to give up. Once the bad mood is gone, I'll focus on next year.

When you look back at the lineup changes at G2 over the last few years, it's the first time in years that you've played with players who haven't proven themselves, what's going on?

Jankos: I think that's good, in fact I don't mind if my teammates prove themselves. I just want to play with people who want to play games, who want to be better, who want to learn, who want to listen, because I'm the same person who does that, I just want people to be open-minded, I want people to tell me --- if I'm playing, because if I feel like someone isn't up to the level... Well actually I don't have high expectations, but I want my teammates to do their best, and that's what I do--- do my best. So I think the players on this list are doing their best. We've tried our best in previous years but it hasn't always worked.

But if you specifically ask Flakked, or Targamas, or even Broken Blade----- I think everyone is very eager to win. I think the biggest difference between them is that they played a lot of single-row, and now maybe Targamas played a lot of Lost Ark, maybe a lot of Dota2, and we played a lot of games together.

And this roster ----- and one of the reasons we actually play together is because everyone loves the game, but I also understand that we need to do more to be good in the playoffs.

G2 has had some problems with hero selection in the last two weeks of the year, has Targamas contributed well in that regard?

Jankos: I think I like Targa and Dylan (coaches) because I think players like Caps and Broken Blade actually need people like Targamas and Dylan. The problem is that Targa is very stubborn in choosing people, and so is Dylan, and they don't always think the same way, but they both think they're right.

Players like Caps and Broken Blade are very open-minded, they've played with a lot of untested heroes, and they believe they can make them work.

There are currently no strongest teams in the LEC division, do you think this situation is more favorable for you to compete on the international stage?

Jankos: For a region, it's great to have a lot of strong teams at the same time. The stronger the team, the more competitive it is in the international arena. The tougher the regular season and the tougher the playoffs, the stronger the team will perform internationally. Personally, I'm happy to have such a strong competitiveness in our division. I feel like a lot of teams are good.

There's Rogue, FNC, and VIT. Although mad lions are not doing so well right now, I'm sure they'll bounce back. MSF players are also trying to prove themselves. I'm happy with the competitiveness on the field. I feel like a lot of teams have the potential to be number one, especially with Rogue taking a 0-2 record this week. Of course, rogues will find their form back, and they're in great shape at the beginning of the game. They're just in a bit of a slump right now.

Of course, it's also possible that we're also bad, and we're divided equally – so we're all shit. But I don't think we played that badly. Overall, I think the level of the EU is OK now.

The Wind Girl's single-player line is becoming more and more popular in single rows, even now in competitions - she can give up her finances and experience to the wild players. What are your thoughts on this? What is the impact of this on the field?

Jankos: Personally, I hate this routine so much that I would feel very annoyed if I were to confront her. I think this routine is harmful to ranking. In the game, it is much more difficult to make this routine work. Unless in alignment with the Tank Hero, the Wind Lady can swim around, because the Tank Hero pushes the tower very slowly.

As a wild player, if the opposite side chooses the Wind Girl and your upper road is a Carry-type hero, you just need to play around the down road, so that although your AD may be a little behind, you should be 2, 3, or 4 levels ahead of the single player.

It is impossible to get too much money out of the wild because of the presence of monster hunters. You also can't eat every wave of soldiers, and the local single will lead the rank and economy. He can be a ship breaker and end the game. So, in my opinion, I'm not afraid to fight this routine in the game. But in qualifying, I think it's disgusting
