Born in 1973, Xiao Yu studied in the design department of the Central Academy of Arts and Crafts and later became a professional oil painter. In 2008, he began to live and create in Beijing, and his works have been collected by important art institutions at home and abroad. Today, he has come to Yinchuan and started a new creation at the Yu Art Space in Tianlai Art Village, Helan Mountain.
Speaking of painting, Xiao Yu admitted that his father liked painting, he was influenced by him, and he also liked art since he was a child. In 2008, his creation and life in Songzhuang in Beijing made him fall in love with the expressionism of German painting. Therefore, his paintings do not have much concreteness, but are more about inner expression, "For me, the painting is a gentle object of conversation, I can give it inner emotions and secrets, on the contrary, it can also comfort me." 」 ”
Xiao Yu admitted that in the context of that period, his works wanted to burst out directly from the heart, related to philosophy and other levels, expressing an inner feeling. Speaking of creative motivations, Xiao Yu recalled that it was accidental. "I remember that I was isolated at home for a long time, and after I came out, I thought of going to helan Mountain with my family and friends to relax." Xiao Yu laughed and said, unexpectedly, there were many people under Helan Mountain at that time, and everyone was like them, who had come to breathe. He suddenly sighed, "It turns out that under the epidemic situation, when it was closed for a long time and eager to breathe the air outside, the first place that everyone wanted to go to was Helan Mountain, and it really alleviated people's inner anxiety." ”

Xiao Yu said that in the days when he returned from Beijing, he began to seriously examine helan Mountain, which is interdependent with the Yinchuan people, and slowly discovered its beauty, "When the sky is clear, Helan Mountain is like an ink painting, and the plants at the foot of the mountain are also full of vitality and are particularly beautiful." Xiao Yu said that Helan Mountain is inclusive and powerful for him and everyone. Therefore, he used his paintbrush to draw the Helan Mountain in his heart and paid tribute to the Helan Mountain Wilderness.

In these paintings, he placed sofas or chairs where individuals rested at home, and even transparent glass, in the picture, emphasizing spatiality, and even on some sofas, he also painted his own love cat. Xiao Yu said that he painted these furniture, objects and pets that made him feel comfortable in Helan Mountain, with the intention of making the human living environment collide and connect with nature, causing people to think about it. Interestingly, when everyone sees these pictures, their feelings are related to themselves, and the content of their experiences is completely different.
