In November 1913, Zhang Xun sent his commander Bai Baoshan to the Xuhai area to suppress bandits, and Bai Baoshan led eight battalions of infantry, two battalions of horses, and one battalion of artillery into Haizhou. Bai Baoshan paid great attention to his contacts with famous and prestigious families and local gentry, especially with the five major surnames of Yin, Ge, Shen, Yang and Xie in Haizhou. In the event of a major event in the red and white of each family, Bai Baoshan will attend the gift-giving, and everyone will exchange gifts and reciprocate.
On the first day of the Chinese New Year, just after dawn, Bai Baoshan would sit on a palanquin, visit various large households, order people to hand over posts to show their new year' greetings, and the favored households would immediately go to the Bai Commander's Mansion to worship. After Bai Baoshan was appointed as the town keeper of Haizhou, the local gentry understood that this town keeper surnamed Bai was going to rule over the sea land for a long time, and they were all carefully waiting.
After Bai Baoshan's original wife Yang Shi came to Haizhou, Bai Baoshan climbed up with the Yang family, one of the five surnames in Haizhou, and the Yang family regarded him as their own aunt, and the two families really came and went like relatives. First borrowed the Yang Family Compound in Guanmiao Lane, Yang Caichen, and then Bai Baoshan took a fancy to the western building complex of Shishi Academy, which is now the Affiliated Primary School of Lianyungang Normal College, and after some planning, it was sorted out and renovated. After the abdication of the Qing court in 1912, Shen Yunpei was invited to serve as a senior official in the Provisional Government of the Republic of China. Dynasties changed, the situation was unstable, Xu Hai was flooded again, and bandits were everywhere. The reaction of the same people in Beijing and Jiangsu was strong, and they repeatedly expressed their feelings for the Beiyang government and demanded that troops be sent to suppress the bandits. With the permission of the President, the Beiyang government appointed Shen Yunpei and Xu Dinglin to return home to supervise qingxiang. In 1914, at the age of 60, Shen Yunpei was appointed by the Beiyang government to participate in the politics of the Senate. As an influential politician in the late Qing Dynasty and early Ming Dynasty, Bai Baoshan had a very high opinion of the Shen Yunpei family.
On August 12, 1918, the 64-year-old Shen Yunpei died in Tianjin Hospital, on October 16, President Xu Shichang presided over the "Lord" ceremony for Shen Yunpei, and in October 1919, Shen Yunpei was buried in Jinping Gangzui, and Bai Baoshan and local dignitaries personally paid tribute. In 1920, the Shen Yunpei family raised funds to establish Jinping Mining Co., Ltd., with Shen Yunpei's sixth son Shen Fan as the general manager, and Shen Fan, Xu Xinliu, Bai Baoshan and others were elected as directors to mine phosphate ore.
The company built a wharf in Dapu, and the phosphate ore mined was transported from the Rose River to Dapu for export to Japan, and the export of phosphate ore in Jinping became the beginning of the prosperity of The Port of Daura. Haizhou Zhenshou made Bai Baoshan's shareholding, so that Jinping Mining Co., Ltd. ore transportation exports have been protected, and it can also be seen that the relationship between Bai Baoshan and the Shen family is not ordinary.
On January 13, 1925, Bai Baoshan was promoted to the post of protector of Haizhou, in October, the Fengjun Xing Shilian attacked Haizhou, and on the 28th, they attacked Haizhou City, and the street fighting was fierce, Bai Baoshan rushed out of the city in an armored vehicle, and Haizhou was occupied by the Feng army. The Shen family and those gentry and wealthy households were invited by the military to be guests, borrowed houses and goods, and rewarded the army to fund military salaries, and Zhang Zongchang's brother also "borrowed money" everywhere. Later, Bai Baoshan, with the help of Sun Chuanfang, recaptured Haizhou on November 8, and Bai Baoshan led his troops into the city, and the costs of those gentry and rich households were not said to be adrift, but were said to be collaborators.
Bai Baoshan hated the gentry and wealthy families in Haizhou, believing that flattering the army when Fengjun came was disloyalty to himself. Bai thinks this is my territory, protecting you in ordinary days, having money to give to the enemy, is there still me in my eyes? So I found a reason to lead the team to raid the homes of each household, and turned over the boxes and cabinets to collect gold and silver. Sent troops to occupy the home of Shangshu Shen Yunpei, the acting postmaster of the Ministry of Posts and Communications at the end of the Qing Dynasty, put his family under house arrest, and threatened to arrest people without taking money. This aroused the interest of Albino Wen who had lived in Haizhou, when talking about the customs and customs of Haizhou, it aroused the attention of Master Shen's mother, knowing that this classmate named Albino Wen was also a Haizhou person, Master Shen's mother looked up and down, tall, white skin, and thought, Is there really such a coincidence, is that "King of Haizhou" Bai Baoshan reincarnated?
When she raided the house, Master Shen's mother was still young, but the scene of the raiding home was still deeply imprinted in her heart, and it was really difficult to forget for a lifetime. When mentioning whether he knew that there was a Bai Baoshan in Haizhou, Albino Wen's words made Master Shen's mother shed tears in her eyes, I don't know if it was joy or what? Miscellaneous tastes. It is really no coincidence that the book is not written, and the master and mother of the albino are Shen Younan, the granddaughter of Shen Yunpei.
