Recently, in an interview before the Chicago Auto Show, an executive of the Jeep brand revealed that the inline 6-cylinder engine newly developed by the Stellantis Group will be officially unveiled this year, and the first model equipped with this engine will most likely be the new Grand Cherokee.

It is reported that the new engine is code-named "Tornado" (Tornado). The model has a displacement of 3.0L and will be equipped with a turbocharger and a 48V light mixing system. In addition, this engine is not based on the single-cylinder power unit of the current 2.0T engine. In contrast, this engine has a smaller cylinder spacing, a more compact overall structure, and will use an aluminum alloy cylinder liner.
The first model to carry a new engine will be the Grand Cherokee, followed by the Wranglers. In addition, new models including the next-generation Charger and Challenger and Dodge Ram pickups will also include this engine in the powertrain list.
In the future, this new 3.0T engine will completely replace the current 5.7L V8 engine. Although the data on the new models has not yet been disclosed, it is certain that the Stellantis Group will adjust multiple power versions according to the needs of its different brands and models.
In addition to innovating existing internal combustion engines, Dodge, a well-known American muscle car brand owned by the Stellantis Group, is making great strides toward electrification. In 2024, the brand will launch the first pure electric muscle car. In addition, the Ram pickup truck also plans to complete the electrification transformation within two years, when the new pure electric pickup truck mileage or will reach 800km.
