Gaming industry analyst Mat Piscatella has released NPD's January 2022 statistics. According to the report, the total sales of the U.S. gaming market for the month were $4.68 billion, down slightly 2% from the same period last year.

Hardware sales increased significantly this month. Gaming hardware sales were $390 million, up 22% year-over-year. Among them, PS5 is at the top of both sales and sales, and Xbox Series X|S is second.
On the other hand, gaming software sales were $4.1 billion this month, down 4 percent from the same period last year. This data ranges from physical and digital versions of games, as well as various subscription services.
Pokémon Legends al Zeus became the best-selling game in the United States in January. In addition, driven by the PC version, Monster Hunter Rise and God of War achieved the third and fifth best results respectively.
In terms of accessories, sales for January 2022 were $185 million, down 15% year-over-year. The best-selling gaming accessory is the Microsoft Elite II gamepad.
