Born in 1996, Yan Xingyuan has 13 years of snow age, and has participated in biathlon and cross-country skiing events since the 2013-2014 season, and has won gold medals at the National Games for two consecutive years. In the 2021-2022 Biathlon World Cup competitions, he won 10th place in the German single mixed relay, 16th in the men's 4×7.5 km relay in Ruhpolding, 23rd in the 4×7.5 km relay in Austria... At this Winter Olympics, he was selected into the Chinese sports delegation with the second place in the team.

"Last season we had a whole new team of foreign teachers, the team for daily training, every night will do technical analysis, and then a little bit of summary improvement, so our technical details have been very big improved. Yan Xingyuan said that he was very grateful for coach Enal Bjordalen's guidance, he said that the coach taught them some good suggestions for pre-match adjustments, and the main goal for them was to focus on shooting and sliding, not to be distracted by other opponents, and to do their own thing.

In previous games, Yan Xingyuan, who spent his 26th birthday, has said that participating in the Winter Olympics is his best birthday gift. Up to now, Yan Xingyuan has participated in three events at the Winter Olympics: in the biathlon mixed relay competition, he helped the Chinese team to win the 15th place, creating the best result in the history of the Chinese team in the biathlon men's 20 km individual time trial; in the biathlon men's 20 km individual time trial, achieved the best results of four athletes in the mainland; and successfully won the place in the pursuit competition in the biathlon men's 10 km sprint competition...
