Then he took out a tool knife, deftly placed, cut, carved, and scratched, and it only took more than ten minutes for a complete surface sculpture "ice pier" to be vividly presented in front of the reporter's eyes.
"Now that everyone is paying attention to the Winter Olympics, especially the mascot is very popular, I have pinched some face sculptures according to the image of the 'ice pier'."
Tan Xianhua said that his grandson also loves to watch the Winter Olympics, and every time the "ice pier" appears, he is excited and happy. Just during that time, the "ice pier" was out of stock, so Tan Xianhua thought of using the surface plastic technique to let his grandson realize the "freedom of the ice pier".
"I was not satisfied with the first 5 works."
Tan Xianhua said that it is not simple to use dough to create an "ice pier" similar to the original version, and after repeated trials, it was not until the completion of the sixth "ice pier" that the grandson showed a satisfied expression.

Tan Xianhua said that after the family posted the photo of the "ice pier" of the face sculpture in the circle of friends, he quickly received a lot of likes and messages.
"During this time, I will also participate in some intangible cultural heritage exhibitions, preparing to combine the elements of the Winter Olympics to let more people know about Chongqing's face sculpture techniques."
Tan Xianhua said that on February 16, he will go to the Yubei District Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese to participate in the theme activity of "Handy Hands to Welcome the Winter Olympics" to publicize and introduce the background knowledge of the history of traditional handmade face sculpture, and at the same time teach everyone to learn to make face sculpture "ice piers".
"School is about to start, and I will go to the campus to teach the children, and let them experience the intangible cultural heritage skills by making 'ice piers', but also have a sense of participation in the Winter Olympics."
Tan Xianhua said that in the future, he will also try to integrate more fresh elements into the traditional process of face molding, attract more young people, and let this craft be better inherited.
