On the evening of February 12, the champion of the men's individual big jump at the Beijing Winter Olympics was born in "Snow Ruyi". Norwegian athlete Marius Lindvik won his first Winter Olympic gold medal by surpassing Japan's Reiyu Kobayashi, who had already won the men's individual standard ski jumping championship at the Beijing Winter Olympics, with a jump in the decider round.
A total of 50 players competed in the competition, and the order of the first round of the players was arranged in reverse order of World Cup points. After each player completes the first round of a jump, the top 30 players in the scoring round advance to the final round. Their results will also be brought to the decider round, and when the final round is completed, the final ranking will be determined with two rounds of points.
The game is full of stars. Second to none are Japan's Famous Kobayashi Lingyou, who won the Men's Individual Standard Ski Jumping Championship at the Beijing Winter Olympics, and Polish Karmil Stoch, the defending champion of the event. In his first four Winter Olympics, Stoker won three gold medals, including two gold medals in the men's individual standard ski jump and the big jump at the 2014 Sochi Winter Olympics, becoming the third athlete in Olympic history to win two individual ski jumping championships at one Olympic event after Finnish athlete Marty Nikkonen in 1988 and Swiss star Simon Amman in 2002 and 2010. In addition, he successfully defended his individual title on the big jump in 2018, making him the first athlete to defend his title on the Olympic big jump after Finland's Nikonin. His remarkable achievements led the Polish Post Office to issue stamps to him in April 2018 in tribute. It is also worth mentioning Simon Amman, the veteran's state, although it has long been different, but this is the seventh time to participate in the Winter Olympics, from another perspective to write the myth of the project.
In the first round, Kobayashi made his penultimate appearance, scoring 147.0 points with a jump as far as 142 meters, advancing to the final round with the first round. Germany's Karl Geiger, who finished first in the World Cup this season, jumped 138 meters in the first jump and finished with 136.7 points, ranking sixth after the first round. Stoch scored 140.3 points in the first jump to advance to the final as fourth in the first round. In addition, Norwegian athlete Marius Lindvik and Slovenian athlete Timy Zayc scored more than 140 points in the first round, both of which are strong contenders for the medal. Simon Amman finished 27th in the first round, along with Ryosuke Kobayashi's older brother Junjiro Kobayashi, who ranked 30th, also advanced to the final round. In 2018, the bronze medalist of the project, Norwegian athlete Robert Johnson only scored 119.3 points in the first round, failing to qualify for the top 30 and missing the final round.
The final round was played in reverse order according to the results of the first round, and Kobayashi Lingyou finally finished. Before him, Marius Lindvik jumped 140 meters to 151.3 points, rising to number one with a total of 296.1 points, and Karl Geiger scored 144.6 points in the decider and ranked second with 281.3 points in both rounds. Stoch finished third with a total score of 277.2. Starting, gliding, taking off, landing, Kobayashi Jumped out of a distance of 138 meters, and everyone was nervously waiting for his score. With 145.8 points, he finished with 292.8 points to finish second.
