Kudos to the hospitality of the hosts – visit Croatian cross-country skier VéMarec

On February 13, Croatian cross-country skier Wei Malec, who participated in the Winter Olympics in Beijing, said in an email interview with Xinhua News Agency a few days ago that she would like to praise the hospitality of the host, because everyone is smiling and very friendly.

Malec was one of 7 athletes sent by Croatia. The 31-year-old is a veteran who has participated in the Winter Olympics for the third consecutive time. Before Mallets came, she had concerns that the entry would take too long, but what she did not expect was that the entry was very smooth and fast. She was impressed by the flawless organization of the Beijing Winter Olympics.

"The Winter Olympic Village is very beautiful, the organizers have arranged everything properly, and it is a pleasure to walk around the Winter Olympic Village." Malets said.

The Beijing Winter Olympics Organizing Committee has arranged special volunteers for each delegation, and the Chinese volunteers serving the Croatian delegation are called Karolina in foreign languages, and they can speak fluent Croatian, which surprises Malec and his teammates. Karolina is familiar with Croatian football star Modric and tennis star Ivanisevic, and is also very interested in some Croatian sayings and proverbs, which suddenly shortens the distance between the two sides.

The professionalism of the organizers of the Winter Olympics also impressed Mallets. When an athlete has a problem, the organizer will always solve it in the shortest possible time. Malets had a problem with the ski equipment during a training session, and she was immediately solved after she reported it.

"The organizers are clearly prepared for every kind of problem that may arise, which proves that their organization is efficient and excellent." Maletz believes that this is one of the best organized Winter Olympics to date.

In addition, Mallets was impressed by the high-tech that can be seen everywhere in the Winter Olympic village, such as robot delivery of food, machine cleaning of the floor and so on. She said China is ahead of Europe in many aspects of advanced technology.

Affected by the epidemic, the Beijing Winter Olympics are different from the previous Winter Olympics, and Maletz and his teammates have expressed understanding, respect and habit of strict epidemic prevention measures such as testing and disinfection.

At the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi, Malets finished 12th in cross-country skiing in the women's 10 km (traditional technique), which was also her best result at the Winter Olympics. At the Beijing Winter Olympics, she also participated in the project and will also participate in the 30 km collective departure (free technology) competition. Although she never won a medal at the Winter Olympics, she said she would fight for her personal best.
