Recently, the hall of the Deqing County Police Skills Training Center in Huzhou City was filled with all kinds of valuable items such as cigarettes, alcohol, ornaments, jade pendants, etc. Li Dan (pseudonym) was one of the victims.
Li Dan, the owner of a large enterprise in Shaoxing, Zhejiang Province, was introduced by a friend to Ni Moufeng, a "feng shui master" in Moganshan Town, last May. During the exchange, Li Dan was convinced of the feng shui numerology taught by the "master", so he hired him as his feng shui consultant and asked him to "transfer" his family life and career development. At first, he simply looked at feng shui, but later, Ni Moufeng would take his family to Mr. Li's home in Shaoxing almost every week, not only letting the victim accompany him on a sightseeing tour, but also "walking" many valuable items, which also aroused the suspicion of the victim's daughter.
"Every time he came, he would verbally suggest that we would give him some tobacco and alcohol, designer bags, and even real estate, and although he took more and more things, the family business did not improve much." Mr. Li's daughter, Li Yi (not her real name), said that over time, she felt that her father might have been deceived. So on February 6, 2021, the case was reported to the Mogan Police Station of the Deqing County Public Security Bureau, and because the value of the case was large, the criminal investigation brigade of the Deqing County Public Security Bureau immediately intervened in the investigation.
After the Deqing police opened an investigation, a fraud gang under the guise of feng shui fortune telling surfaced, and the police launched a net on the suspects on February 8, and a total of 6 suspects were arrested. Due to the complexity of the case, after the arrest of the gang, the criminal investigation brigade of the county public security bureau immediately gathered its superior forces and took the initiative to give up its vacation during the Spring Festival to tackle the case. After a month of tough interrogation, the main suspect Ni Moufeng confessed all the facts of the crime.
"This is a typical family-style gang fraud case, and when the main suspect commits the fraud, his family will set off the atmosphere." Li Hang, a police officer at the Deqing County Public Security Bureau, said. In order to better implement the fraud, Ni Moufeng also forged many false identities for himself, claiming that he could "change the nature of the land" and "unfreeze assets" for the projects that Mr. Li was investing in, and then ask for more money.
At present, the police have recovered most of the property, Ni Moufeng and others have been approved for arrest on suspicion of fraud, and the case is being further handled.
