Recently, the "Five Volumes" translated by Mr. Ji Xianlin, a master of Sanskrit scholars, was published. "Decameron", "Canterbury Tales", "Aesop's Fables", and "Grimm's Fairy Tales" have all been influenced by the "Five Books" and are the source of many literary works in the world.
The Five Books is a collection of ancient Indian folk fables. The whole book is based on the main story of the whole book: "Proficient in many things and enjoying the great name", the Brahmins adopted the method of storytelling, and taught the rule of the prince within six months, and the story was divided into five volumes, forming the "Five Books", "used on earth to educate the youth".

Even in the fairy tales of the Brothers Grimm, Indian stories can be found. Among the oral folktales circulated in many countries of Asia, Africa and Europe, there are also stories borrowed from the Five Books. ”
As Th. Benfey, the founder of the History of Comparative Literature, praised, the Five Books are "a collection of fables that conquered the world." Translated into nearly a hundred languages over the past two thousand years, this book is the only Chinese reading translated by the Sanskrit scholar Ji Xianlin according to the modified version of the Five Books of 1199.

About the Author
The translator Ji Xianlin (1911.8.6 – 2009.7.11) was an internationally renowned orientalist, linguist, literary scholar, sinologist, Buddhist scholar, historian, educator and social activist. He has served as a member of the Department of Philosophy and Social Sciences of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, honorary president of Liaocheng University, vice president of Peking University, director of the Institute of South Asian Studies of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, and tenured professor of Peking University.
In the early years of studying abroad, he was fluent in English, German, Sanskrit, Pali, could read Russian and French, especially proficient in Tocharian, and was one of the only scholars in the world who were proficient in this language, "Sanskrit, Buddhism, and Tocharian studies at the same time, Chinese literature, comparative literature, and literary and artistic theory research Qi Fei", and once three words "Guoxue Master, Academic Giant, National Treasure" laurel.
